Your mission

Sungrow Power EMEA offers an exciting opportunity for a Werkstudent (Intern) to join our dynamic ESS Technical Team in Munich, specializing in Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). As a Werkstudent (Intern), you will work closely with our experienced engineers, contributing to technical design and ESS customized solution proposals. This role will support the delivery of energy storage assignments, with a primary focus on Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and actively participate in the growth and development of Sungrow ESS in the Eastern European market. You will also have the opportunity to assist in renewable energy projects, including solar PV and wind, within the group.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Include

  • Assisting in high-quality technical advisory tasks related to pre-sale BESS activities.
  • Collaborating with various engineering disciplines (ESS electric, mechanical, civil, and control scheme) and serving as a project liaison.
  • Reviewing project conceptual designs, detailed designs, and suggesting technical improvements for ESS projects.
  • Assisting in the preparation and management of specifications, tendering processes, negotiations, and battery storage system plant selection.
  • Conducting due diligence for ESS projects and supporting customers and lenders throughout the financial close process.
  • Gaining knowledge of renewable generation utility network connection quality studies and PCS dynamic performance approval processes.

Your profile

Are you up for the challenge? Here's a glimpse of the qualifications and background we're looking for:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field, with a preference for electrical engineering.
  • An interest in BESS technology, and prior exposure to European BESS technology is a plus.
  • A solid understanding and enthusiasm for BESS technologies, including emerging trends and the international market landscape.
  • Experience in providing technical advice to investors and project developers, with exposure to BESS plant design and technical advisory support.
  • Exposure to international solar PV or hybrid project development and delivery is a bonus.
  • Proven ability to communicate technical reviews effectively with clients and various project stakeholders, including utilities, BoP, EPC, etc.
  • Proficiency in Eastern European languages, English at least at C1 level, and knowledge of additional languages is an advantage.
  • Proficiency in software tools such as PowerFactory, PSCAD, Python, and VBA for technical analysis and modeling would be a plus
