Huawei Heisenberg Research Center focuses on cutting-edge innovations in AI, robotics, and next-generation intelligent systems. Our teams work at the intersection of research and engineering to bring advanced concepts into real-world applications.

Advanced Wireless Technologies Lab (AWTL) is responsible for research activities towards the definition and development of future mobile network technologies and communication systems. AWTL has been engaging with multiple research and standardization activities, including participation in European Commission funded research projects of the Horizon 2020 framework, contributing to industrial communication fora such as 5G-AA and 5G-ACIA, transferring technologies to standardization bodies like 3GPP, ETSI, GSMA, and NGMN, and developing in-house experimental platforms, prototypes, and proof of concepts on wireless and networking technologies. Recently, AWTL has shifted its focus to next-generation (6G) wireless networks and technologies towards 2030.

Join us as a

Intern 6G Robotics, AI and ISAC Prototyping (m/f/d)

Your mission

  • Implementation and test of AI solutions for a Humanoid robot platform
  • Assisting in trials and verification of 6G sensing technologies
  • Integration and verification of extension of a robot simulation environment
  • Design and implement an end-to-end AI/LLM pipeline enabling humanoid robots to understand and execute high-level, human-like task instructions
  • Support sim-to-real training workflows, enabling robust transfer from simulation to real-world robotic platforms
  • Contribute to the evaluation and benchmarking of AI policies in both simulated and real environments

Your areas of expertise

  • Currently pursuing or holding an BSc/MSc/PhD in Robotics, AI, or a related field
  • Programming skills in Python and C++
  • Experience with ROS2 and robotic software development
  • Good understanding or hands-on experience with Generative AI, foundation models, or (VLA / LLM-based systems)
  • Solid knowledge of Linux systems and basic networking
  • Familiarity with AI workflows (data pipelines, training, fine-tuning)
  • Tools: Docker, Git, ROS2, DDS, FastAPI, Linux
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken) is required
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative

Wochenstunden

Praktika haben keine 20-Stunden-Grenze, ein freiwilliges Praktikum über drei Monate muss aber in der Regel mindestens den Mindestlohn zahlen. Pflichtpraktika im Studium sind davon ausgenommen.

Sozialabgaben

Pflichtpraktika sind weitgehend von Sozialabgaben befreit. Freiwillige Praktika gelten ab einer gewissen Dauer als reguläre Beschäftigung, dann fallen meist Beiträge an.

Internationale Studierende

Studierende von außerhalb der EU dürfen 140 volle oder 280 halbe Tage im Jahr arbeiten (seit März 2024, zuvor 120/240). Ein Werkstudentenvertrag passt meist in diesen Rahmen — prüfe die genauen Grenzen auf deinem Aufenthaltstitel.
