Huawei’s Dresden Hilbert Research Center (DRC)’s mission is to explore programming models, operating system and virtualization technologies on multicore heterogeneous architectures and NVM/SCM platforms, aiming to provide a high-performance, reliable abstraction layer for efficient resource utilization. DRC focuses its technical research in the key areas of Smart Mobile, Telecom, Autonomous Driving, Internet of Things, and Industry 4.0.
Join us as an Intern in AI Systems Research (m/f/d) to bring intelligent agents to life on real-world devices. You’ll work on squeezing every ounce of performance out of modern mobile hardware, optimizing deep learning models for low-latency, battery-friendly inference. Your mission
- Contribute to the development of scalable and efficient AI systems through hands-on research and experimentation.
- Explore novel architectures, optimization techniques, and system-level innovations that push the boundaries of current AI capabilities.
- Deepen understanding of the intersection between machine learning and systems engineering, including distributed computing, model deployment, and hardware acceleration.
- Collaborate with researchers and engineers to translate theoretical insights into practical solutions for real-world AI challenges.
- Grow as a researcher by engaging with state-of-the-art tools, frameworks, and methodologies in AI systems.
- Working towards a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science or in a similar field.
- Fluency in one of the programming languages: C, C++, Python.
- Good understanding of system software.
- Experience with compilers.
- Basic understanding of neural network architectures (e.g., transformers, CNN).
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in multicultural and distributed teams.
- Fluent in written and spoken English.

Wochenstunden
Praktika haben keine 20-Stunden-Grenze, ein freiwilliges Praktikum über drei Monate muss aber in der Regel mindestens den Mindestlohn zahlen. Pflichtpraktika im Studium sind davon ausgenommen.

Pflichtpraktika sind weitgehend von Sozialabgaben befreit. Freiwillige Praktika gelten ab einer gewissen Dauer als reguläre Beschäftigung, dann fallen meist Beiträge an.
Versicherung prüfenInternationale Studierende
Studierende von außerhalb der EU dürfen 140 volle oder 280 halbe Tage im Jahr arbeiten (seit März 2024, zuvor 120/240). Ein Werkstudentenvertrag passt meist in diesen Rahmen — prüfe die genauen Grenzen auf deinem Aufenthaltstitel.
