The role
As a Web Development Intern, you will be embedded in a project supporting a major logistics and shipping provider that handles massive amounts of freight data every day. Your job is to help us build and refine the web interfaces their staff uses to track shipments, manage documentation, and resolve routing errors. This is a fully remote position focused on the practical application of web technologies to solve operational friction in a high-stakes environment.
What you will do
- Writing clean and functional HTML and CSS to fix layout issues in internal shipment tracking dashboards.
- Writing simple JavaScript to handle form validations and ensure data routing logic remains consistent across the portal.
- Checking server logs and browser consoles to identify why specific internal API requests are failing for the logistics team.
- Updating technical documentation so that future team members know exactly how the database fields map to the user interface.
- Testing new interface features to ensure they do not break existing workflows for the shipping clerks and warehouse managers.
- Helping migrate legacy operational data from outdated portals into new, more reliable web interfaces that we are building.
- Sitting in on technical reviews with our senior practitioners to learn how they approach complex process fixes and system architecture.
- Assisting with the cleanup of front-end code to improve the speed and responsiveness of tools used in low-bandwidth shipping environments.
- A basic understanding of how the web works, including a functional knowledge of HTML, CSS, and fundamental JavaScript.
- The ability to explain a technical problem or a logic error in plain English without relying on corporate jargon.
- A high level of curiosity about why a system is failing rather than just trying to hide or bypass an error message.
- A logical approach to troubleshooting, such as checking the network tab or reading logs before asking for assistance.
- Familiarity with Git or basic version control concepts through your own coding projects, university coursework, or side interests.
- Comfort working in a fully remote setup where almost all communication happens through written updates and documentation.
- An interest in business operations and the practical ways that data moves through a large-scale shipping company.
- The ability to follow existing coding standards and style guides to ensure consistency across the client project.
- A fully remote work environment where your actual output is valued more than your physical presence at a desk.
- Attractive and competitive pay for an internship role within the current professional market.
- Direct mentorship from senior operators who have spent years fixing complex systems for large organizations.
- Practical experience working on a live project for a major logistics provider, giving you insight into real-world scaling issues.
- A work culture that prioritizes clear documentation and deep work over constant, unnecessary status meetings.
- Exposure to real-world business logic and how it translates into functional code that people use to do their jobs.
- The chance to see the tangible results of your work when a previously broken process becomes faster and more reliable.
- A clear professional environment where we value directness, honesty, and getting the job done right the first time.
