Software Engineering Intern Data Cloud Query / Hyper

Start date: 5th October 2026

Location: Munich

Duration: 3 months

We are thrilled to invite ambitious student candidates who would like to build a career in Salesforce to apply for our Internship Program.

This exciting program is designed to built the foundational skills for a Software Engineering role to begin a Salesforce careers.

Our Internship program is a fully immersive experience, combining comprehensive learning paths with in-role experience. You will be assigned experienced Software Engineer manager who will provide hands-on coaching.

As a Software Engineering Intern on the Data Cloud Query team, you will contribute to Salesforce's next-gen database technology Hyper, which powers Salesforce Data 36O. Hyper is designed and built for high-performance analytical workloads in a diverse range of settings from scalable cloud environments to workstations and laptops running all major operating systems.

Together with a your team you will design and build impactful trustable solutions that are used in a variety of use cases, helping our customers perform interactive analytics of the freshest state of data across Salesforce products.

What you’ll be doing

  • Build new features that advance Hyper’s capabilities.
  • Improve Hyper’s performance through new algorithms, concurrency and scaling.
  • Extend and improve Hyper’s data format, query execution and query optimizer to help our customers analyze their data faster
  • Improve Hyper’s resource governance across a wide range of devices.
  • Extend our SQL dialect to bring new capabilities to Hyper.
  • Enable Hyper’s extensibility through expressive and easy-to-use APIs.
  • Communicate technical ideas at all levels of the organization.
  • Support peers in building scalable distributed systems.

Who you are

  • PhD Student
  • You know modern C++ and enjoy collaborating, learning from and teaching others. It is a plus if you are familiar with Database engineering, cloud-native technology and Kubernetes.
  • You're Self-Motivated. You take initiative and can turn ideas into real features. You enjoy discussing scenarios, designs and their tradeoffs with your team.
  • You have a Growth Mindset. You are not satisfied by the status quo and work with those around you to improve the quality of our systems, code, teamwork and engineering practices.
  • You are Customer Focused. You regularly think from the customer perspective. You want to learn about customers, their challenges & scenarios. You work toward solutions
  • You are fluent in English and German

Wochenstunden

Praktika haben keine 20-Stunden-Grenze, ein freiwilliges Praktikum über drei Monate muss aber in der Regel mindestens den Mindestlohn zahlen. Pflichtpraktika im Studium sind davon ausgenommen.

Werkstudenten-Regeln

Sozialabgaben

Pflichtpraktika sind weitgehend von Sozialabgaben befreit. Freiwillige Praktika gelten ab einer gewissen Dauer als reguläre Beschäftigung, dann fallen meist Beiträge an.

Versicherung prüfen

Internationale Studierende

Studierende von außerhalb der EU dürfen 140 volle oder 280 halbe Tage im Jahr arbeiten (seit März 2024, zuvor 120/240). Ein Werkstudentenvertrag passt meist in diesen Rahmen — prüfe die genauen Grenzen auf deinem Aufenthaltstitel.
