Your future team

You'll be joining our Data Engineering team inside the Business Intelligence department — a crew of five experienced engineers and growing (3 Seniors, 1 Engineering Manager, and 1 Staff Engineer) who genuinely love what they do. We work hand in hand with our Data Analytics and Data Science colleagues to build the data foundation that powers Holidu's growth.

We're the team that keeps the data flowing - reliably, efficiently, and at scale. From building and maintaining core data pipelines to enabling other teams to do their best work, we're always thinking about impact.

Duration: 6 months

Location: Munich, 2-3 office days per week

Our Tech Stack

  • Data Pipelines: Airflow + dbt-core, powered by Python, for fast, reliable workflows.
  • Data Storage & Querying: Redshift (with decentralized data sharing), Athena, and DuckDB.
  • Cloud & DevOps: Terraform, Docker, Jenkins, and AWS EKS (Kubernetes) for scalable, resilient systems.
  • Monitoring: ELK, Grafana, Looker, OpsGenie, and in-house tools for full visibility.
  • Ingestion: Kafka-based event systems and tools like Airbyte and Fivetran for smooth third-party integrations.
  • Automation & AI: Extensive use of AI tools like Claude, Copilot, and Codex.

Role

Your role in this journey In this internship, you'll get your hands on real problems with real impact. Here's what your day-to-day might look like:

  • Build and support data pipelines - develop, test, and maintain ETL/ELT workflows using tools like Airflow and dbt, making sure our data is always reliable and ready to use.
  • Dig into data quality - monitor pipeline performance, flag issues, and work with the team to find smarter, more efficient solutions.
  • Get hands-on with cloud infrastructure - learn how we use AWS services to store, query, and move data at scale.
  • Support data migration efforts - help analysts transition from legacy SQL setups to modern dbt + Athena workflows.
  • Explore AI-assisted development - use cutting-edge LLM tools to boost productivity and learn how AI is changing the way we write and review code.

Your Backpack Is Filled With You Don't Need To Know Everything, That's What The Internship Is For. But Here's What Will Set You Up For Success

  • Currently studying or recently graduated in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field
  • Solid foundations in Python and/or SQL: you've used them in projects or coursework and you're ready to level up.
  • Curiosity about data systems: you find topics like data pipelines, databases, and cloud computing genuinely interesting.
  • A team-first mindset: you ask questions, share what you learn, and aren't afraid to say "I don't know yet".
  • Familiarity with Git: basic version control shouldn't be new to you.
  • Bonus points: if you've played around with tools like Airflow, dbt, Docker, or any cloud platform (AWS, GCP, etc.).
  • Bonus points: if you've explored LLM tools or AI-assisted coding, we value people who experiment.

Our adventure includes

  • Compensation: Get a fair salary.
  • Impact: Make a difference for hundreds of thousands of monthly users.
  • Growth: Take responsibility from day one and develop through regular feedback.
  • Community: Engage with international, diverse, yet like-minded colleagues through regular events and 2 office days per week with your team.
  • Flexibility: Benefit from our hybrid work policy and the chance to work from other local offices for up to 8 weeks a year.
