Huawei's Ohm Research Center (Nuremberg) is responsible for Advanced Technology Research, Architecture Evolution Design and Strategic Technology Planning.

Huawei Digital Power is a business unit within Huawei that provides Enterprise & Industry customers, products and solutions like clean power generation, transportation electrification, site power facilities, data center facilities, and embedded power. Huawei Digital Power is committed to integrate Digital and Power Electronics technologies to provide customers with high-quality, energy-efficient, green, and low-carbon power electronics products, facilitating their business success.

The Power Conversion Technology Laboratory within Huawei's Ohm Research Center (Nuremberg) is responsible for Advanced Digital Power Technology Research, Architecture Evolution Design and Strategic Technology Planning, and plays an important role in the Huawei Digital Power business in the design and development of power converters and control systems for applications such as PV Solar & Battery Energy Storage Field, Data Centers, Electric Vehicle, and Embedded Power Supply.

Intern – Medium voltage switching experiments (m/f/d)

Your mission

  • Take active part in experiments involving current interruption and arc discharge phenomena
  • Support preparation and set-up of experimental hardware and test benches
  • Design circuits, concepts, and modules for experiments and test them in the lab
  • Set up hardware and software systems for signal acquisition (e.g., oscilloscopes, DAQ tools)
  • Good know-how about handling electrical equipment and power electronic components
  • Maintain lab organization, safety practices, and equipment logs

Your areas of expertise

  • Enrolled in a Bachelors or Master's program at a university in electrical engineering, power electronics, physics, or a related field
  • Hands-on experience with soldering, wiring, PCB assembly, and basic lab tools (multimeter, oscilloscope, current/voltage sensors)
  • Experience of working in an electrical or mechanical lab environment is preferred
  • Experience with discrete and modular power electronics components (e.g. MOSFET/IGBT device) is advantageous
  • Good working knowledge of one or more of the following software tools is advantageous: Python, PLECS etc
  • Flexibility to learn new things and work in a highly dynamic atmosphere
  • Good team-working attitude and collaboration skills
  • Excellent communication skills in English; German is an advantage

Wochenstunden

Praktika haben keine 20-Stunden-Grenze, ein freiwilliges Praktikum über drei Monate muss aber in der Regel mindestens den Mindestlohn zahlen. Pflichtpraktika im Studium sind davon ausgenommen.

Werkstudenten-Regeln

Sozialabgaben

Pflichtpraktika sind weitgehend von Sozialabgaben befreit. Freiwillige Praktika gelten ab einer gewissen Dauer als reguläre Beschäftigung, dann fallen meist Beiträge an.

Internationale Studierende

Studierende von außerhalb der EU dürfen 140 volle oder 280 halbe Tage im Jahr arbeiten (seit März 2024, zuvor 120/240). Ein Werkstudentenvertrag passt meist in diesen Rahmen — prüfe die genauen Grenzen auf deinem Aufenthaltstitel.
