DLR GfR mbH is a company providing reliable, safe and secure aerospace services. We operate and manage the constellation of Galileo satellites in the Galileo Control Center Oberpfaffenhofen on behalf of the European Commission.

Our company headquarters is located in an area widely known as a holiday destination - the five-lakes region in Upper Bavaria near Munich. Your Mission

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Support the deployment of cybersecurity patches in the Maintenance Environment (MATE)
  • Execute regression testing activities after patch deployment to ensure system stability
  • Collect, organize, and document test results and technical evidence
  • Support the preparation of Implementation Plans for deploying cybersecurity patches into operational environments
  • Support the planning, coordination, and monitoring of patch deployments
  • Support reporting activities, including preparation of status updates and maintenance reports


You will gain hands-on experience in operating and maintaining a complex ground segment in an international, highly technical environment. The Galileo Ground Segment Cyber Maintenance domain is continuously evolving, providing exposure to real-world operational constraints and engineering best practices.

Your Qualification

  • Bachelor's or Master’s Degree student (or recent graduate) in Engineering, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Aerospace, Physics, or a related field
  • Interest in cybersecurity, software maintenance, and operational environments
  • Motivation to learn, take initiative, and proactively support team activities
  • Ability to understand technical instructions and work independently when required
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively within a team
  • Good organizational and time-management skills, with attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in parallel
  • Intermediate English level (spoken and written)
  • Self-motivated and responsible, with the ability to meet deadlines with limited supervision


Preferable

Basic knowledge or interest in:

  • Linux/Unix environments
  • Software patching
  • Testing or validation activities
  • Cybersecurity concepts (vulnerabilities, patches, hardening)
  • Interest in working with structured processes and documentation
  • Curiosity for space programmes, large-scale systems, and international projects
  • Analytical mindset and problem-solving attitude

Wichtiges für Werkstudierende

Praktika haben keine 20-Stunden-Grenze, ein freiwilliges Praktikum über drei Monate muss aber in der Regel mindestens den Mindestlohn zahlen. Pflichtpraktika im Studium sind davon ausgenommen.
