Description provided by GeneralMind

About GeneralMind

GeneralMind is a fast-scaling AI startup in Berlin, backed by $16M in funding and built by experienced founders who previously scaled a €700M supply chain unicorn.

We help large enterprises become AI-native by automating the operational workflows that usually still run through emails, documents, spreadsheets, and legacy systems. With this approach, we already work with leading SDAX and MDAX companies.

How We Work

We are highly execution-focused and operate with a high degree of ownership and intensity.

This is an onsite role in Berlin. We believe the kind of speed, collaboration, and product iteration we want is best achieved in person.

We are building a small Strategic AI Team. A tech-savvy team going into other teams across the company, identifies AI potential, and ships concrete projects together with them. The goal is to make GeneralMind truly AI-native across all functions.

We see this internship as the start of a longer relationship. There is a strong opportunity to convert into a full-time role, and we reward excellent performance with real responsibility, ownership, and compensation.

This environment works well for people who:

  • enjoy moving fast
  • want real ownership from day one
  • are excited about AI, automation, and building internal tools
  • like working across teams and disciplines
  • want to have outsized impact at an early-stage company

The Role

As a Strategic AI Intern, you’ll work hands-on across high-impact projects that sit outside the classical go-to-market scope but are strategically critical for GeneralMind.

You’ll be part of a small, highly technical team that operates across departments – identifying AI opportunities, prototyping solutions, and shipping real projects. This is not a support role. You’ll get direct ownership of meaningful work from day one.

What you will do

  • Expanding our company-wide knowledge layer that makes internal knowledge searchable and actionable
  • Prototyping agentic workflows and building product demos for customer-facing use cases
  • Driving AI automation across the company – identifying use cases and implementing solutions for every team
  • Building AI-driven automation for internal functions like finance, reporting, and operations
  • Contributing to our Portal and productized deployment motion

What we are looking for

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Business Informatics, or a similar field with a strong mix of business and technical thinking
  • Genuine excitement about AI, automation, product development, and startups
  • Hands-on mentality – ideally you’ve already built your own projects or worked on AI, automation, or internal tooling in a company before
  • Comfortable working across disciplines and teams
  • Strong communication skills in English; German is a plus

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience with AI tools, LLMs, or building AI-powered workflows
  • Familiarity with Python, TypeScript, or similar languages
  • Prior startup or fast-paced work experience
  • Interest in enterprise software, supply chain, or operations

Why Join

We believe enterprise software is about to be rebuilt around autonomous systems.

As an intern on the Strategic AI Team, you won’t be fetching coffee or building slide decks. You’ll work directly on projects that shape how GeneralMind operates as an AI-native company – with real responsibility and real impact.

The people joining GeneralMind now will have disproportionate influence on the direction of the company. If you want to be at the centre of that, we’d love to hear from you.

Working student essentials

What this Tech internship in Berlin means for you: the pay rules, the social contributions, and what international students should check before applying.

Weekly hours

Internships have no 20-hour cap, but a voluntary internship longer than three months generally has to pay at least the German minimum wage. Mandatory internships in your study programme are exempt.

Working student rules

Social contributions

Mandatory internships are largely exempt from social contributions. Voluntary internships are treated like regular employment once they run long enough, so contributions usually apply.

International students

Non-EU students can work 140 full or 280 half days per year (raised from 120/240 in March 2024). A working student contract usually fits within this — confirm the exact limits printed on your residence permit.
