DTCP is an independent investment management firm with over EUR 4.5 billion in assets under management and more than 60 professionals.

Through DTCP Defence, the team backs companies from Series A to Series C financing stages with defensible technology, scalable business models, and direct relevance to Europe's strategic capability needs. The fund focuses on areas including resilient homeland systems, industrial deterrence, space-based infrastructure, and hardened software-enabled platforms for demanding environments.

The fund plans to invest in up to 25 companies, with an average investment size of approximately EUR 20 million. Our objective is to support the growth of high-performing category leaders and contribute to Europe's long-term technological capability and security infrastructure.

DTCP has been investing successfully in IT and security technologies for more than a decade. Its existing Growth Equity portfolio has a strong focus on cybersecurity and AI companies.

Your Role

As an Intern, you will join the fund's investment team and support the investment process across the following areas:

  • Investment Thesis Building: Contribute to our investment theses by exploring specific verticals and domains, building knowledge and expertise, and helping develop robust investment strategies.
  • Deal Flow Creation: Identify emerging European defence, security, and resilience technology companies across relevant domains.
  • Company Analysis & Pitching: Build shortlists of the most promising investment opportunities, conduct initial high-level evaluations, and pitch potential opportunities to the team.
  • Due Diligence: Participate in due diligence on live transactions, including financial modelling, market research, competitive analysis, reference calls, and related workstreams.
  • Portfolio Support: Support the investment team in its work with portfolio companies on financial, operational, and strategic matters. Monitor portfolio companies against growth milestones.

Your Profile

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in finance, business, engineering, or a related field
  • Work experience in investment banking, consulting, private equity, venture capital, and/or tech startups
  • Genuine passion for geopolitics, security & defence, emerging technologies, and innovation
  • Outstanding analytical skills, strategic thinking, and exceptional attention to detail
  • Confident, positive, results-driven, and high-energy personality with strong learning agility
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills in English
  • Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Legal right to work in the EU
  • Ability to meet the reliability requirements within the meaning of Sec. 1 (20) Nos. 1 to 3 GwG

Weekly hours

Internships have no 20-hour cap, but a voluntary internship longer than three months generally has to pay at least the German minimum wage. Mandatory internships in your study programme are exempt.

Mandatory internships are largely exempt from social contributions. Voluntary internships are treated like regular employment once they run long enough, so contributions usually apply.
