Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

We are looking for a motivated working student to support our optical communications development team. The role has a strong experimental and metrology focus, including setting up and operating measurement systems. This is an excellent opportunity for students who want to gain hands-on experience in an innovative, technology-driven environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support the setup and automation of optical test benches
  • Collaborate on developing control software for measurement instruments
  • Characterization of optical components
  • Analysis and documentation of experimental data

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor- or Master student in Physics, Optics, Electrical Engineering, Communications Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related subjects
  • Understanding basic concepts of optics
  • Experience in data analysis using Excel, Python, or MATLAB
  • Experience writing simple software programs or scripts (ideally Python or MATLAB)
  • Basic experience with laboratory equipment such as laser sources, optical power meters, or oscilloscopes is a plus
  • Fluent in German or English
  • Confident use of Microsoft Office applications
