Overview

You will work with the Biotechnology team and help them scale up our current process. If you would like to get hands-on experience in fermentation on a process from start to end and work in lab and pilot scale environment.

Your Role
- Maintain the workflow pipeline for the production process
- Perform basic laboratory procedures, including sample preparation, and prepare media and reagents for upstream fermentations in a production environment
- Support downstream processing methods and assist in setting up and maintaining pilot equipment and processes
- Assist with experimental setup, execution, data collection, and analysis, ensuring accurate reporting and documentation
- Monitor and record data during experiments, ensuring strict adherence to SOPs, process protocols, and batch records
- Write and update SOPs for processes and equipment where applicable.
- Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the work area
- Handle moderately heavy equipment, lift materials, and process products as needed.
- Maintain and ensure the proper functioning of equipment
- Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot technical issues and ensure the optimal performance of equipment
Your Profile
- Currently pursuing a Master in or related to Biotechnology, Microbiology, Bioprocessing Engineering, Biochemistry, Biology or Life science
- Experience working with microorganisms and following GLP and aseptic techniques
- Familiarity with basic laboratory equipment such as Microbiology Safety Cabinet, Centrifuge, Dead end filters, Benchtop fermenters, etc.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint, is required
- Experience in pilot or manufacturing environments is a plus
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting objects of 10-15 kg when necessary.
- Fluency in English, both verbal and written
- Must be able to work effectively in a hands-on, fast-paced environment and collaborate on interdisciplinary fermentation-related projects
- Detail-oriented, reliable, and capable of managing multiple tasks efficiently
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multicultural team environment
This internship is intended for students currently pursuing a relevant Master’s degree program and whose university requires a mandatory internship of at least 5 months. Please only apply if you meet these requirements.
