You will work with the Biotechnology team and help them scale up our current process. If you would like to get hands-on experience in green chemistry on a process from start to end and work in lab and pilot scale environment.

Your Role

  • Perform basic laboratory procedures, including reagent preparation
  • Assist with experimental setup, execution, data collection and analysis, ensuring accurate reporting and documentation
  • Monitor and record data during experiments, ensuring strict adherence to SOPs and process protocols
  • Conduct research and development activities to identify and develop novel green chemistry processes utilizing cellulose as a key component
  • Design and optimize reaction pathways and experimental protocols for the conversion of cellulose into value-added products
  • Perform analysis and characterization of cellulose-based materials using advanced techniques and instrumentation
  • Write and update SOPs for processes and equipment where applicable
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in green chemistry, cellulose chemistry and related fields to drive innovation within the company
  • Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the work area
  • Support or optimize downstream processing methods for the modified cellulose materials



Your Profile

  • Currently pursuing a Master in or related to Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Chemistry or Life science
  • Green chemistry methodologies for chemical modification of cellulosic based materials for desired application are essential for your success
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint, is required
  • Solid understanding of reaction kinetics, catalysis and sustainable chemical processes
  • Proficiency in experimental design, data analysis and the use of analytical instruments
  • Basic knowledge of titration and the ability to use a titrator or perform manual titration using standard laboratory equipment
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting objects of 10-15 kg when necessary
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail and ability to work independently and in a team
  • Fluency in English, both verbal and written with the ability to present complex scientific concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences


Additional Skills:

  • Experience in process optimization, scale-up and technology transfer
  • Familiarity with basic laboratory equipment such as Microbiology Safety Cabinet, Centrifuge, Dead end filters, Benchtop fermenters, Titrator etc.


This internship is intended for students currently pursuing a relevant Master’s degree program and whose university requires a mandatory internship of at least 5 months. Please only apply if you meet these requirements.
