Your mission

At Wandelbots, we are transforming the way people interact with industrial robots. Our software enables users to program and operate robots more easily, while our robotics platform connects modern software systems with real-world robotic hardware.

As a Working Student in the Robotics Department, you will help us ensure that our software works reliably on physical robots. You will work at the intersection of software and hardware, supporting our robotics engineers in developing, maintaining, and improving our automated testing infrastructure.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys both coding and hands-on work with physical systems. We are not looking for someone who already knows everything about robotics—we are looking for someone who is curious, eager to learn, and excited to understand how software and robots work together in practice.

Because our testing infrastructure relies heavily on physical robot cells, the role is primarily onsite and closely integrated with the day-to-day work of our robotics engineers. We are looking for a student who can contribute consistently throughout the year (typically 15–20 hours per week) and who is interested in growing with us over the long term.

Your Responsibilities

  • Support and improve our robotics test infrastructure that validates software on physical robot hardware.
  • Analyze and classify automated test results, identify recurring issues, and help improve system reliability.
  • Develop, maintain, and extend automated tests for robotics software and hardware integration.
  • Assist in debugging and troubleshooting issues at the interface between software and physical robot systems.
  • Work closely with robotics engineers to continuously improve testing processes, tooling, and automation workflows.

Your profile

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics or a related field.
  • Passion for both robotics and software development.
  • Excited to work hands-on with physical hardware while also writing code.
  • Basic programming experience in any modern programming language (e.g. Python, C++, TypeScript, Java, or similar).
  • Curious mindset and willingness to learn new technologies and tools.
  • Structured and analytical way of thinking.
  • Comfortable working independently and collaborating within a team.
  • Good communication skills and fluency in English.

Awesome If You Have

  • First experience with robotics, automation, embedded systems, or industrial hardware.
  • Experience with scripting or test automation.
  • Basic understanding of software testing concepts.
  • Experience with Git or collaborative software development workflows.
  • Hands-on experience with electronics, sensors, actuators, or robotic systems.
