Job Description

We are looking for a highly motivated Working Student or Intern to join our Impedance Sensing team at Renesas. In this role, you will contribute to the development of cutting-edge robotics prototypes, working at the intersection of hardware and software. You will gain hands-on experience with real-world robotics systems, helping to build innovative solutions using Renesas platforms.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop rapid prototypes of hardware (including PCB design, schematic capture, and board bring-up) and software (firmware, data processing) for robotics applications.
  • Implement and test proof-of-concept solutions for tactile sensing, motion control, and human–machine interaction using Renesas platforms.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering and application teams to translate requirements into functional prototypes.
  • Conduct system integration, debugging, and validation of HW/SW modules in real-world robotics use cases (e.g., robotic hands, grippers, mobility systems).
  • Document design concepts, PCB layouts, experimental results, and prototype performance, supporting internal demos and customer-facing presentations.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field
  • Basic hands-on experience with PCB design tools (e.g., Altium) and embedded programming on microcontrollers
  • Understanding of robotics fundamentals such as sensors, control systems, or kinematics is an advantage
  • Experience with electronics lab tools (oscilloscope, multimeter, power supplies) is a plus
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as C/C++, Python for embedded or prototyping tasks
  • Basic knowledge of communication protocols (UART, SPI, I2C, CAN) is desirable
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a hands-on prototyping environment
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaborate in a cross-functional, international team
  • Good documentation and communication skills in English
