Company Description The International Sustainable Chemistry Collaborative Centre (ISC3) is a global centre dedicated to advancing Sustainable Chemistry solutions across the chemicals sector and related supply chains. By promoting circular economy models, ISC3 aims to reduce waste and hazardous substances while improving the use of natural resources. The centre supports environmentally and socially sustainable alternatives that also drive economic innovation, new business opportunities, and job creation, contributing to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. As a multi-stakeholder platform and think tank, ISC3 collaborates with partners worldwide to shape policy, foster innovation, and support sustainable business models, particularly in developing countries. Established in 2017 by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment and hosted by GIZ, ISC3 is headquartered in the UN City of Bonn, with a Research Hub at Leuphana University in Lüneburg and an Innovation Hub at DECHEMA in Frankfurt am Main.


Role Description The Intern, International Sustainable Chemistry will support ISC3’s international activities and projects focused on promoting Sustainable Chemistry. This internship role is on-site and based in Eschborn, where the intern will assist with research, data collection, and preparation of reports and presentations on Sustainable Chemistry topics. Day-to-day tasks may include supporting stakeholder engagement, contributing to communication materials and social media content, and helping organize events, workshops, and meetings. The intern will collaborate with team members on project coordination, documentation, and knowledge management. The role offers exposure to international sustainability policies, innovation initiatives, and multi-stakeholder collaboration in the field of Sustainable Chemistry.


Qualifications

  • Enrollment in or completion of a relevant university program (e.g., chemistry, environmental sciences, sustainability, policy, international relations, or related fields).
  • Strong research and analytical abilities, including the capacity to synthesize complex scientific or policy information into clear summaries.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English; knowledge of German or additional languages is an asset.
  • Interest in Sustainable Chemistry, circular economy, and international sustainable development frameworks such as the UN SDGs.
  • Competence in using standard office and collaboration tools (e.g., MS Office, online conferencing platforms) and willingness to learn new digital tools.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in an international, multi-stakeholder environment, with a proactive, organized, and detail-oriented work style.
  • Prior experience in project support, event organization, or science communication is beneficial but not required.
  • Eligibility and availability to work on-site in Eschborn for the duration of the internship.
