Im Auftrag des Bundesministeriums für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung (BMZ) führt die GIZ das Globalvorhaben "Migration entwicklungspolitisch gestalten“ (MEG) durch. Ziel ist es, Partnerländer dabei zu unterstützen, die Vorteile der regulären Migration und das Engagement der Diaspora für eine nachhaltige Entwicklung zu nutzen.

In der Komponente Diaspora-Kooperation des MEG wird durch verschiedene Angebote das Engagement von Menschen mit Migrationsgeschichte („Diaspora“) für nachhaltige Entwicklung in ihren Herkunftsländern gefördert. Des Weiteren unterstützt die Komponente politische Partner wie Ministerien dabei, Politiken zur Stärkung von Diaspora-Engagement zu entwickeln.
