Job Purpose
We are seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated, and highly organised Advocacy Intern. Someone who is passionate about European foreign policy and European politics and has an interest in gaining experience in advocacy and campaigning.
The Advocacy Intern supports the activities of ECFR’s Central Advocacy Team, which supports the launching of the organisation’s flagship initiatives. The intern will gain insight into the rollout of pan-European advocacy and outreach strategies at an important juncture for Europe’s role in the world. In particular, the team will be focused on European Security, its Tech and Geoeconomic future with our DARE project as well as the rollout of public opinion polling.
The intern will be involved in all daily tasks of the Central Advocacy Team, helping in the organisation of a range of research, advocacy, and events. They will learn to work in a fast-paced office environment requiring extensive interactions with others. The intern will develop knowledge and skills within a think tank context and in the field of foreign policy and international relations.
Main Responsibilities
- Assist with the organisation of high-level conferences and meetings for ECFR policy staff.
- Undertake research tasks to inform the rollout of the advocacy and outreach strategy
- Assist in the drafting of advocacy documents and briefing notes
- Assist in the tracking, monitoring and evaluation of the advocacy and outreach strategy
- Update databases and other contacts to ensure accurate, up-to-date records.
- Other general responsibilities may be reasonably requested over time.

Person Specification
- Currently enrolled as a student in a related field of study such as International Relations, European Studies, Politics, Journalism, Communications, or equivalent
- High IT proficiency, MS-Office and social media, as well as Zoom. Knowledge of Canva is a bonus.
- Excellent written and oral communication in English.
- German or another European language is an advantage.
- Creator of compelling visual documents
- Understanding of EU and governance institutions, especially in the foreign policy realm
- Understanding of EU international relations and interest in foreign policy.

- Can-do approach, flexible and able to multitask and prioritize as needed
- Proactive and high degree of organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multinational, virtual team and to develop effective working relationships
- Detail-oriented, reliable, and quality-driven

Praktika haben keine 20-Stunden-Grenze, ein freiwilliges Praktikum über drei Monate muss aber in der Regel mindestens den Mindestlohn zahlen. Pflichtpraktika im Studium sind davon ausgenommen.

Pflichtpraktika sind weitgehend von Sozialabgaben befreit. Freiwillige Praktika gelten ab einer gewissen Dauer als reguläre Beschäftigung, dann fallen meist Beiträge an.
