Description provided by Zenfulfillment®

The short version

Zenfulfillment is the backbone of European e-commerce logistics: warehousing, packing, shipping and returns for online shops. 250+ people, over €50M in revenue, 300+ brands moving more than €1 billion through our systems. All of it built basically bootstrapped (500K funding), in a market where competitors burned 200+ million in VC money.

We are looking for a working student to help build the entire HR department from the ground up, together with our Head of HR. You get a lot of room and responsibility to build and shape every aspect of the department.

What you'll actually do

You help build the HR department as the company scales: processes, structure, and the systems that make HR run:

  • Help design and set up core HR processes from onboarding and offboarding to contracts, documentation, and policies
  • Build and automate recurring HR work with AI instead of redoing it by hand every week
  • Own onboarding and offboarding end to end: contracts, documents, equipment, first day
  • Keep personnel files clean, structured, and audit-ready as we grow
  • Support junior recruiting where needed: screening, scheduling, candidate communication
  • Join employee conversations, including the difficult ones, and handle what comes after them

Who you are

  • You are genuinely interested in HR and can explain why in two sentences, without saying "because I like working with people"
  • Ideally first HR exposure (internship, working student role, student initiative). If you have none but you are fast and serious, convince us ;)
  • You are AI-native. AI is a tool for you, not a buzzword. How many of your recurring tasks already run without you?
  • You can take a hit. Rejections, escalations, angry emails, terminations. You process it, you stay professional, you do not carry it into the next conversation
  • Discreet by instinct. You will see salaries, contracts and personal situations long before anyone else does
  • Structured and reliable. Things you own do not need a reminder, even across a week you are only here three days
  • Being able to stay at Zenfulfillment for at least the next 6 months, around 20 hours per week
  • German at native or C1+ level plus fluent English.
  • Based in one of our Office cities (Munich / Berlin / Erfurt / Frankfurt) and able to come to the office 1-2 times a week

Why this role is rare

You learn directly from a Head of HR who has built a company himself, and you help set up the HR infrastructure of a company with 250+ employees that is still hiring fast. You see recruiting, contracts, employee relations, offboarding and HR operations in one place, with real room to shape how things are done.

What we offer you

  • Fair hourly compensation
  • Hours that flex around your lecture and exam schedule
  • 27 days of vacation (pro rata), plus Dec 24th, Dec 31st, and your birthday
  • MOBIKO mobility allowance and Egym/Wellpass membership
  • Regular team events, summer and Christmas parties
  • An ambitious, international team with real cohesion and short decision paths

Working student essentials

What this HR working student role in Munich means for you: the weekly-hours rules, the social-contribution perks, and what international students should check before applying.

Weekly hours

Working students may work up to 20 hours a week during the semester and full-time during the breaks. Staying within this keeps your student status and the Werkstudent benefits.

Working student rules

Social contributions

Under the Werkstudentenprivileg you're exempt from health, care and unemployment insurance contributions — only pension insurance applies. That leaves more net pay than a regular job.

International students

Non-EU students can work 140 full or 280 half days per year (raised from 120/240 in March 2024). A working student contract usually fits within this — confirm the exact limits printed on your residence permit.
