Smart Energy Pay is looking for a tech-savvy Werkstudent to join our engineering team in Berlin.

We run a live fintech platform built on Smart Energy Chain (SEC) — an EVM-compatible Layer 1 blockchain. Our users deal with crypto wallets, Visa card management, virtual accounts, and real money transactions. Before any feature reaches them, it needs to work — perfectly. That's

You'll work directly alongside our developers, sitting at the intersection of quality engineering and product delivery.

The Role

We are looking for a motivated Werkstudent to join our QA function and work directly with our engineering team. You will be responsible for testing our platform end-to-end — from user authentication and KYC flows to crypto transactions and card management — and help us build a robust, automated testing pipeline that scales with our product.

This is a hands-on role. You will not be observing from the side; you will be actively involved in the testing lifecycle from day one.

Responsibilities

• Design, write, and execute test cases for web and mobile application features

• Build and maintain automated test suites using Playwright or Cypress

• Write test scripts in JavaScript or TypeScript to automate functional and regression test flows

• Inspect and validate HTML/CSS rendering across browsers and screen sizes

• Develop and integrate automated tests into CI/CD testing pipeline

• Help configure and improve testing workflows in GitHub Actions or equivalent CI tools

• Perform functional, regression, and integration testing across critical user flows

• Conduct mobile application testing on iOS and Android platforms

• Reproduce, document, and track bugs with clear reproduction steps

• Collaborate with developers to verify fixes and validate releases

• Maintain QA documentation, test plans, and internal knowledge base

• Identify recurring issues and report patterns to improve product quality

Requirements

• Currently enrolled at a German university — Werkstudent contract is mandatory

• Practical experience with Playwright or Cypress

• Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript/TypeScript for writing and understanding test scripts

• Experience in mobile application testing (iOS and/or Android)

• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and test automation integration

• Solid understanding of software testing methodologies

• Familiarity with REST API testing using Postman or similar tools

• Strong attention to detail with a structured, analytical mindset

• Professional written communication in English

Preferred Qualifications

• ISTQB Foundation Level (CTFL) certification — strongly preferred

• German language skills (spoken or written) — big plus

• GitLab CI, or similar CI/CD platforms

• Hands-on experience integrating tests into GitHub Actions

• Experience with CSS testing tools or visual regression testing (e.g., Percy, Chromatic)

• Experience with Appium or mobile test automation frameworks

• Exposure to fintech, banking, or blockchain products

• Familiarity with Git and agile development workflows
