About the Brand

MARIE-LOUISE MÜLLER is a Berlin-based slow fashion label specializing in couture, wearable art, and accessories created through meticulous handcraft techniques such as crochet, embroidery, knitting, and hand sewing. The label works exclusively with EU-sourced natural fibers and integrates upcycling as a core design principle, often investing hundreds of hours of handwork into a single piece. Founded in 2025, the brand aims to restore the emotional bond between wearer and garment, offering made-to-order pieces that are repaired free of charge for life. The runway debut at Berlin Fashion Week with ESCAPIST GARDEN SS27 showcased 19 looks and 2,500 hours of handwork, earning praise from Vogue Germany and extensive coverage across major fashion publications. The label has received multiple awards and has been featured in leading fashion media and exhibitions, underscoring its growing international recognition.

About the Role

The Fashion Design Intern will support the creative and production processes of the label in a full-time, on-site role located in the Berlin Metropolitan Area. Day-to-day tasks include assisting with concept development, sketching and design refinement, preparing mood boards and line sheets, and helping translate design ideas into prototypes. The intern will work closely with textiles and materials, assist in handcraft processes such as sewing and finishing, and help maintain an organized studio environment. Responsibilities also include supporting fittings and styling for shoots or presentations, contributing to visual development for lookbooks or social media, and collaborating with the team to ensure that each piece reflects the brand’s slow fashion values and craftsmanship standards.

Qualifications

  • Genuine energy and the right attitude, which count for more with us than a long CV.
  • Basic crochet skills, with a willingness to build on them; interest in embroidery, knitting, and hand sewing.
  • Solid foundation in Fashion Design, including sketching, concept development, and basic pattern understanding.
  • Hands-on experience with Textiles and Sewing, preferably with an interest in handcraft techniques and natural fibers.
  • Currently enrolled in a fashion or design-related program and completing a mandatory placement (Pflichtpraktikum).
  • Available on-site in the Berlin Metropolitan Area for the full six months, starting between 1 Sep and 1 Oct 2026.
  • Strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, and patience for intricate, time-intensive handwork.
  • Interest in slow fashion, sustainability, and long-term garment care; experience with upcycling is a plus.
  • Basic skills in Fashion Styling to support fittings and look development.
  • Competence in Graphic Design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva) for mood boards, presentations, and visual materials.
  • Fluent in English, the atelier language; German language skills are beneficial but not required.
