Role Description

The Embedded Linux Intern role is a remote position (based in Germany, 6 weeks) focused on supporting embedded Linux development for GoMyRobotOS (https://gomyrobot.github.io/GoMyRobotOS/), our space-oriented embedded operating environment. Day-to-day tasks include embedded Linux bring-up and testing on High-Performance Spaceflight Computing (HPSC) hardware built around Microchip's PIC64-HPSC RISC-V platform, Yocto/OpenEmbedded BSP development, and QEMU-based testing workflows. The intern will help troubleshoot system issues, contribute to documentation, and collaborate with engineers to improve reliability and security of deployed systems, gaining hands-on exposure to real-world space technology projects while working closely with experienced mentors.

Qualifications

- Ability to work with Linux System Administration and Operating Systems concepts, including basic configuration and monitoring.

- Familiarity with Yocto/OpenEmbedded and embedded Linux board bring-up.

- Strong troubleshooting skills for diagnosing and resolving issues in embedded and Linux-based systems.

- Foundational knowledge of embedded systems, including experience with C/C++ in a Linux environment; RISC-V exposure is a plus.

- Comfort with command-line tools, version control (e.g., Git), and shell scripting.

- Bonus: exposure to virtualization, RTOS concepts, or ROS 2.

- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Robotics, or a related field.

- Ability to work independently in a remote setting, communicate clearly, and collaborate with a distributed engineering team.

- Interest in space systems, robotics, and autonomous technologies; prior project or internship experience in these areas is a plus.
