Die Ursachen für Hunger und Mangelernährung sind vielfältig: Armut, Krisen, Konflikte, Überbevölkerung und Naturkatastrophen sowie fehlender Zugang zu Gesundheitsdienstleistungen, gesunder Nahrung, sauberem Trinkwasser und sanitären Einrichtungen.

Ziel der Vorhaben ist es die Ernährungssituation von gefährdeten Menschen, vor allem von Frauen im gebärfähigen Alter und Kleinkindern, und ihre Widerstandsfähigkeit gegenüber Hungerkrisen ist zu verbessern. Dafür verknüpfte das Globalvorhaben Ernährungssicherung und Resilienzstärkung Maßnahmen aus verschiedenen Bereichen, wie etwa Landwirtschaft, Gesundheit, Bildung, soziale Sicherung sowie Wasser und Hygiene (Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH).

Das Globalvorhaben Modular Nutrition Actions baut Lernerfahrung aus dem zu Ende gehenden Globalvorhaben als Bausteine in bestehende Projekte ein um sie ernährungssensitiver zu machen.
