The Team – your impact

Our Cyber Security function in Essen is looking for an enthusiastic Working Student (m/w/d) to join the Awareness Team.

In this role you'll have the opportunity to work on various creative projects with the aim of raising the cyber security awareness of our employees. We do this through communications, events, and training where we provide information on threats and dangers, with tips and tricks on how to protect against these threats, both at work and in private life.

Your Role – meaningful & rewarding

  • Develop engaging communication content such as campaigns, visuals, guidelines, and e-learnings
  • Contribute to branding and storytelling around cyber security topics
  • Manage and continuously improve our internal communication platform
  • Plan and coordinate internal campaigns, including merchandise and promotional materials
  • Support ongoing projects with a focus on communication strategy and user engagement

Your Profile – authentic & open-minded

  • Ongoing studies in Communication, Marketing, Media, Branding, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Strong interest in content creation, storytelling, and brand communication
  • Curiosity for digital topics (ideally including IT or cyber security, but not required)
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and collaborate in a team environment
  • Solid MS Office skills (PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
  • Excellent communication skills in German and English, both written and spoken

Our Benefits – smart & useful

  • Advance your development: We grow and we want you to grow with us! We offer exciting tasks and individual learning opportunities.
  • Enjoy fair compensation: We recognize your contribution with a market-based remuneration.
  • Enjoy hybrid work: We combine office collaboration with focused work from home. Thanks to our flexible working hours you can easily balance university and a job.
  • Get connected: Take the opportunity to engage in our communities for collaboration, learning, and network building.
  • Recharge your battery: You have 30 days of paid vacation per year plus Christmas and New Year's Eve off.

Weekly hours

Working students may work up to 20 hours a week during the semester and full-time during the breaks. Staying within this keeps your student status and the Werkstudent benefits.

Working student rules

Under the Werkstudentenprivileg you're exempt from health, care and unemployment insurance contributions — only pension insurance applies. That leaves more net pay than a regular job.
