Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

We are looking for a motivated IT Working Student to support our IT team in documentation, data analytics, and project management activities. This role is ideal for a student pursuing a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Science, Business Informatics, or a related field who is interested in gaining practical experience in digital transformation, AI, and IT operations.

The successful candidate will help improve documentation quality, analyze data to support decision-making, contribute to AI-related initiatives, and assist project managers in coordinating activities across multiple stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Documentation & Knowledge Management

• Create, maintain, and improve IT process documentation, work instructions, and technical guides.
• Support the development of knowledge bases, SharePoint sites, and project documentation repositories.
• Ensure documentation is accurate, structured, and aligned with organizational standards.
• Assist in preparing presentations, reports, and management summaries.

Data Analytics & Reporting

• Collect, clean, and analyze data from multiple IT systems and sources.
• Develop dashboards, reports, and visualizations using tools such as Power BI or Excel.
• Support KPI tracking and performance reporting.
• Identify trends and provide insights to support business and IT decisions.

AI & Digitalization Support

• Assist with AI-related use cases, proof-of-concepts, and automation initiatives.
• Support the evaluation and adoption of Generative AI tools and data-driven solutions.
• Help prepare datasets and documentation for AI projects.
• Research emerging AI technologies and industry best practices.

Project Management Support

• Assist project managers with project planning, tracking, and coordination.
• Maintain action item lists, project schedules, and status reports.
• Support meeting preparation, documentation, and follow-up activities.
• Coordinate communication between technical teams and business stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in:
• Computer Science
• Information Technology
• Business Informatics
• Data Science
• Engineering or related discipline
• Basic understanding of IT infrastructure, applications, and business processes.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a global environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Initial experience with AI/Generative AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, Azure AI, or similar technologies.
• Knowledge of data analytics tools such as Power BI, SQL, Python, Excel, or Tableau.
• Experience with Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Teams, and project collaboration tools.
• Understanding of project management methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Waterfall).
• Exposure to automation technologies and data visualization concepts.
