Description provided by Allianz Commercial

Join Allianz Commercial's Treaty Reinsurance team as a Working Student (20 hours/week) based in Munich. Our international team of experts in Munich, London, and the US is responsible for placing all external reinsurance treaties across every line of business. As owners of one of Allianz Commercial's key risk management tools, we drive the reinsurance buying process in close collaboration with Underwriting, Claims, and the Actuarial Department. This role offers a rare opportunity to gain hands-on exposure to global treaty reinsurance at one of the world's leading commercial insurers - ideal for students looking to build a career in insurance, risk management, or finance.

The Impact You Will Have

You will actively support our team in analyzing, developing, and administering external reinsurance treaties - gaining meaningful insight into how reinsurance works on a global scale. The Reinsurance department at Allianz Commercial strategically coordinates optimal treaty coverage worldwide, managing renewals, modifications, and the introduction of new arrangements. Through close collaboration with departments such as CUO, Claims, Finance, Legal, Actuarial, and Cat Management, you will broaden your understanding of the insurance industry and see firsthand how cross-functional teamwork shapes risk strategy.

Some Of Your Specific Responsibilities Could Include

  • Support data analysis workflows: collect relevant data for renewal submissions and assist in analyzing information to support decision-making.
  • Contribute to creating reinsurance performance statistics on a case-by-case basis, helping to evaluate risks and opportunities.
  • Participate in the preparation of reinsurance cost planning, including budget estimates and projections.
  • Develop and deliver clear and concise presentations, ensuring complex reinsurance concepts are communicated effectively to internal stakeholders.
  • Work closely with various teams and departments - including CUO, Claims, Finance, Legal, Actuarial, and Cat Management - to facilitate smooth communication and coordination within Allianz Commercial.

What You’ll Bring To The Role

  • Currently pursuing a degree, ideally in Mathematics, Finance, Economics, or Business, with a focus on quantitative or analytical problem-solving.
  • Strong analytical thinking and the ability to grasp complex concepts quickly.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access.
  • Excellent command of English; German language skills are a plus.
  • An open, collaborative mindset and comfort working across inclusive and multicultural team environments.
  • Previous experience or internships in an insurance or financial services company are an advantage.
  • Clear communication skills - whether in writing or in conversation.
  • A basic understanding of artificial intelligence (AI) and its potential applications in business is essential.

Further Information

  • Duration at least 6 months (preferably longer)
  • Working hours: 20 hours/week
  • Enrollment at the university/college is a prerequisite for the duration of employment.
