RWE Supply & Trading GmbH

To start as soon as possible, part time (up to 20 hours/week), fixed term 6+ months

About The Role

At RWE Supply & Trading, we power the energy transition by trading electricity, gas and commodities across global markets. Our Clearing Operations team ensures that every trade is processed, controlled and settled accurately, enabling the business to operate with speed and confidence.

In this role, you will support the processing and control of trades after they are executed, ensuring they are correctly recorded, reconciled and settled.

You will work in a hands-on environment close to the trading floor, gaining insight into how trading activities are operationally secured and how risk is managed. This role offers an excellent entry point into trading operations, with strong learning opportunities and exposure to key stakeholders across the business.

  • Support the processing of exchange-traded and over-the-counter transactions across clearing workflows, with a strong focus on accuracy and timeliness
  • Monitor margin calls and collateral movements (financial safeguards required by exchanges and clearing banks)
  • Perform daily position, cash and fee reconciliations and investigate discrepancies
  • Analyse and resolve breaks, working closely with Trading, Risk and Operations
  • Maintain structured controls and documentation to support risk management and regulatory requirements
  • Contribute to improvement processes by identifying opportunities for standardisation and automation

Job Requirements And Experience

  • Currently enrolled at a university, ideally in Business, Finance, Economics, Business Informatics, Mathematics or a related field
  • Basic understanding of financial markets
  • Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy
  • Comfortable working with systems and data, with a structured and reliable approach
  • Reliable and organised way of working, with a willingness to take ownership
  • Comfortable communicating and collaborating in an international team
  • Curious mindset with a strong motivation to learn and develop

Advantageous, But Not Essential

  • Knowledge of clearing and settlement processes
  • First experience in operations, back office, trade support or data-related roles
  • Interest in process improvement or automation, with initial exposure to tools such as Python or SQL

What we value most is someone who continuously demonstrates courage, thrives to create impact and seeks to build trusting, collaborative relationships. So, even if you think you do not yet display all of the skills listed above we would still like to hear from you.

Further we welcome applications from individuals who may not be able to commit to full-time roles. At RWEST, finding the right person for the job is our top priority, and we are willing to explore flexible arrangements.
