Beschreibung bereitgestellt von Hatch Blue

Hatch Blue is a global investment firm specializing in aquaculture. We back the technologies and companies transforming the sector, combining strategic investment with deep sector know-how and access to the global industry. Alongside our investments, we run venture-building programs to uncover emerging innovation and strengthen local ecosystems, and support clients from corporate to government in navigating the aquaculture sector.

We are looking for a Working Student to join our Investment team in Berlin for three months starting in August 2026.

About Our Investment Team

The Investment team manages Hatch Blue's venture capital activities, including the Blue Revolution Fund (BRF) portfolio, follow-on investments, portfolio monitoring and value creation for portfolio companies. The team works at the intersection of aquaculture, the blue economy and venture capital, combining deep sector knowledge with rigorous investment analysis.

About the Role

You will work directly with the investment team on a mix of analytical, operational and AI-tooling projects, gaining hands-on exposure to how an early-stage venture capital fund operates from deal analysis and market research to CRM and portfolio management workflows.

This role suits a student who is analytical, self-organized and curious about venture capital and the ocean economy, and who enjoys using modern AI tools (e.g. Claude) to work smarter.

Responsibilities

Research & Analysis

  • Analyze aquaculture and blue economy deal trends to inform the team's investment thesis
  • Conduct a competitor analysis of venture funds active in the blue economy / ocean space
  • Support portfolio-related analytical tasks (e.g. company monitoring, data collection, one-pagers)

Investment Team Operations & Tooling

  • Help build an AI work stream within the investment team, applying programming skills to automate and improve workflows
  • Streamline the contact intake workflow from Gmail into Affinity (our CRM)
  • Tidy up and enrich data quality in Affinity
  • Set up a clearer shared folder structure for the team

Fund Materials & Knowledge Building

  • Keep the BRF fund deck and portfolio company one-pagers updated in line with new investments and milestones
  • Build an "anti-portfolio" (companies we passed on that went on to succeed, cf. Bessemer's anti-portfolio) and improve our investment decision journal to strengthen the team's decision-making process

Your Profile

  • Currently enrolled as a student at a university (Werkstudent eligibility required)
  • Basic programming skills (e.g. Python, JavaScript, or scripting/automation experience)
  • Strong analytical skills and structured way of working
  • Experience with office tools (Google Workspace / Microsoft Office) and AI tools such as Claude
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken)
  • Interest in venture capital, aquaculture or the blue economy is a plus
  • Must have your own student health insurance

What We Offer

  • Compensation of EUR 14/hour + paid leave and regular working student benefits
  • Maximum 16 hours per week (2 full days), with flexible scheduling around studies and exam periods
  • Hybrid working setup based in Berlin
  • Hands-on insight into venture capital investing in aquaculture and the blue economy
  • Work directly with an international, entrepreneurial investment team
  • Exposure to modern AI-driven workflows in a professional investment context

Logistics

  • Location: Berlin (hybrid)
  • Start date: August 2026
  • Duration: 3 months
  • Hours: max. 16 hours/week, flexible around studies and exams

Application

Please apply by sending a cover letter and your CV to [email protected]

Hatch Blue is committed to diversity, multiculturalism, and inclusion within the team and within the industry.
