Your area of work

The Data Services department is responsible within Deutsche Börse Group for the worldwide distribution and marketing of financial market information. In addition to the real-time prices of its own trading venues (e.g. Xetra, Eurex) and benchmark indices (e.g. DAX, EuroSTOXX50), the department markets information and trading data from international cooperation partners (e.g. BSE India, Santiago Exchange). Based on this information, Data Services develops and calculates real-time analytics, which gives market participants an even deeper insight into what is happening on the trading venues. Being responsible for licensing models and the launch of new products, this department covers all aspects of product management, from business and market analysis, collaboration with our cooperation partners to the design of business and licensing frameworks. Customers include market data vendors, the media, financial institutions (buy and sell side) and other consumers of financial information.

As an intern (f/m/d) you will support the team in the Products and Licensing Unit significantly in various ongoing projects and gain valuable experience in a leading global exchange organization. You will get the chance to work together in a team of experienced product and project managers in the fast-moving field of market data licensing.

Your responsibilities:


  • You will gain insights into market data licensing through participation in the ongoing projects within the department
  • You will assist in the implementation of market and competitor analyses
  • You will support with analyses for strategic positioning and creation of decision templates, actionable items, reports and presentations
  • You will contribute to periodic business reviews, cost allocation and pricing analyses, and develop data-driven insights using business intelligence tools (e.g. Power BI)
  • You will work on specific market data related projects and requests
  • In addition to these exciting tasks, you will gain insights into the dynamics of an international exchange organization


Your profile:


  • You are enrolled during the entire period of role at a state-recognized university as a regular student in the area of Business Administration, Economics or Finance and have completed at least 2 semesters
  • Ideally, you have already gained first practical experience in the context of financial markets (e.g. experience abroad, internships)
  • You have strong data handling and visualization skills, including experience with business intelligence tools (e.g. Power BI, Qlik)
  • You have excellent numerical and analytical skills as well as interest in the financial markets and financial market participants
  • Thanks to your structured and independent way of working, you are able to meet tight deadlines. Your high motivation and analytical skills help you to quickly familiarize yourself with new topics.
  • You have very good command of MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint)
  • You are fluent in written and spoken English and German

Praktika haben keine 20-Stunden-Grenze, ein freiwilliges Praktikum über drei Monate muss aber in der Regel mindestens den Mindestlohn zahlen. Pflichtpraktika im Studium sind davon ausgenommen.

Pflichtpraktika sind weitgehend von Sozialabgaben befreit. Freiwillige Praktika gelten ab einer gewissen Dauer als reguläre Beschäftigung, dann fallen meist Beiträge an.

Studierende von außerhalb der EU dürfen 140 volle oder 280 halbe Tage im Jahr arbeiten (seit März 2024, zuvor 120/240). Ein Werkstudentenvertrag passt meist in diesen Rahmen — prüfe die genauen Grenzen auf deinem Aufenthaltstitel.
