Our team at BMW Group Research and Development develops computational methods and finite element simulations to improve vehicle crashworthiness by optimizing structural and restraint system components. We offer challenging tasks where you support our engineers in their daily work.
What awaits you?
- You will support diverse AI tasks within the side crash domain and collaborate with a team of engineers, developers, and students.
- Furthermore, you help to use large language models for assessing the safety performance of our vehicles in crash scenarios.
- In addition, you contribute to continuing the infrastructure work of a former intern, including connection to a GPU workstation.
- Moreover, you will assist in comparing different LLM models and selecting the most suitable model for productive usage.
- You will also gain insight into the BMW Group as an attractive employer and establish valuable connections.
- Studies in artificial intelligence, computational mechanics, computer science, mathematics, or a related field.
- Knowledge of state-of-the-art LLMs and prompting techniques is an advantage.
- Skills in artificial intelligence are preferred.
- Experience with Python or other programming languages.
- Teamwork and communication skills.
- Good German and English skills.

Intern Vehicle Safety and Artificial Intelligence (f/m/x)
Wichtiges für Werkstudierende
Was dieses Praktikum im Bereich Tech in Munich für dich bedeutet — Vergütungsregeln, Sozialabgaben und worauf internationale Studierende achten sollten.
Wochenstunden
Praktika haben keine 20-Stunden-Grenze, ein freiwilliges Praktikum über drei Monate muss aber in der Regel mindestens den Mindestlohn zahlen. Pflichtpraktika im Studium sind davon ausgenommen.
Werkstudenten-RegelnSozialabgaben
Pflichtpraktika sind weitgehend von Sozialabgaben befreit. Freiwillige Praktika gelten ab einer gewissen Dauer als reguläre Beschäftigung, dann fallen meist Beiträge an.
Versicherung prüfenInternationale Studierende
Studierende von außerhalb der EU dürfen 140 volle oder 280 halbe Tage im Jahr arbeiten (seit März 2024, zuvor 120/240). Ein Werkstudentenvertrag passt meist in diesen Rahmen — prüfe die genauen Grenzen auf deinem Aufenthaltstitel.
