Our Company

WE ARE AGAIN AWARDED AS TOP ARBEITGEBER 2025!

At AP Sensing, we’re building on a success story that began in the garage of Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard. As an independent HP spin-off, we combine over 40 years of technological expertise with a passion for innovation.

Together we’ll continue to enhance infrastructure, protect people, and safeguard our planet. With a commitment to fiber optic sensing, we value every voice and empower growth. Join us in thinking ahead to create a smarter, safer world.

Your Responsibilities

  • You work in a young team using state-of-the-art tools on the AP Sensing Edge Platform for Distributed Acoustic Sensing.
  • You support the design and implementation of a quality assurance strategy for Rust-based systems, with a focus on performance, functional correctness, and system resilience.
  • You develop observability and self-monitoring features in Rust, for example to collect, evaluate, and visualize relevant runtime and system metrics.
  • You define, implement, and automate performance benchmarks to make runtime behavior, resource consumption, and regressions systematically measurable.
  • You contribute to GitLab CI/CD pipelines and optimize them with regard to execution time, stability, and the meaningfulness of the results.
  • You develop supporting tools for CI, testing, and benchmarking that help developers assess quality and performance at an early stage.
  • You analyze test results, benchmark data, and pipeline feedback, and work with the team to derive improvement measures from them.

Your Profile

We are looking for someone who enjoys truly understanding Rust code and developer infrastructure: measuring, reproducing, debugging, explaining, and improving things sustainably. This role is not about generating code quickly, but about carefully tracing technical relationships and developing reliable solutions.

Benchmarks, test harnesses, and production observability must be understandable, reproducible, and robust. AI tools can support you in this work, but they do not replace technical understanding, careful work, and solid implementation.

Ideally, you bring the following:

  • You are studying computer science, business informatics, or a comparable technical degree program.
  • You are interested in systems-oriented software development, performance topics, and reliable developer infrastructure.
  • You have initial experience with typed, systems-oriented programming, for example in Rust, C++, C, or Go. Rust experience is a plus.
  • You are comfortable working on the shell, analyzing logs, investigating processes, and understanding and deliberately using scripts or command sequences.
  • You work carefully, investigate problems in a structured way, and enjoy truly understanding technical root causes.
  • You show initiative, are eager to learn, and are interested in exploring new topics together with the team.
  • Nice to have, but not required: initial experience with GitLab or GitHub pipelines, CI/CD, or automated testing.

We are looking for someone to start immediately, ideally for 20 hours per week

Interested? Then send your application—including the high school diploma, bachelor’s degree certificate (if already available) and the current transcript or records to [email protected].

Our Offer

  • Flexibility: Flexible working hours that are compatible with your studies
  • Team: A motivated and friendly team that supports and encourages you
  • Location: only a 2-minute walk from the S-Bahn station with a direct connection to Stuttgart
  • Office space: You will work on site in large, bright and air-conditioned offices with height-adjustable desks and a fully equipped kitchen with a high-tech coffee machine.

And much more:

  • holiday bonus
  • christmas bonus
  • meal subsidy for the lunch catering
  • free drinks and fresh fruit
  • flat hierarchies and very collegial relationship with managers
  • international and intercultural team
  • company laptop for everyone
  • ideal work-life balance
  • regular company and team events
  • free parking spaces
  • sports facilities: weekly fitness coach

Are you ready to play a BIG role in a small team instead of a SMALL role in a big team?

Then you are spot-on with us…
