In order to support the Central Research & Technology department, Airbus is looking for a

Master Thesis / Internship within Resilient Magnetic Anomaly Navigation (d/f/m)

We at Airbus Central Research & Technology pioneer cutting edge technologies for future airborne and spaceborne systems, providing novel functionalities whilst reducing the environmental footprint of Airbus products and services. You will join the team of our researchers working on alternative positioning and navigation using novel quantum magnetometers. With your contribution you will make an impact on the research on resilient future airborne navigation for Airbus.

Your Tasks And Responsibilities

  • Exploring advanced estimation algorithms for magnetic anomaly navigation to optimize. positioning uncertainty using the geomagnetic anomaly field as a position reference.
  • Adapting, implementing and testing suitable algorithms in a navigation simulation.

Desired Skills And Qualifications

  • Enrolled full time student (d/f/m) within electrical engineering, robotics, aerospace engineering, computer science, physics or a related field.
  • Good mathematical skills in probability theory and non-linear dynamics.
  • Experience in Matlab or Python programming.
  • Previous experience in machine learning, state estimation, sensor fusion and/or navigation are a plus.
  • Fluent in English or German.
