Shape the Future of Digital Twin Technology at ZEISS

At ZEISS Corporate Research, we explore technologies that shape future ZEISS products. We are looking for a motivated student passionate about software engineering, C++, automation, and intelligent developer tools to help build the software foundation of an in-house digital twin platform.

Your Role

With us, you have the opportunity to perfectly combine your studies with practical experience while actively contributing to exciting projects. This allows you to gain valuable skills, expand your network, and grow both professionally and personally.

  • Develop robust, reusable software components in modern C++
  • Design APIs, interfaces, and software architecture
  • Build and maintain workflows (build, packaging, deployment) and improve CI/CD with GitHub Enterprise/Actions
  • Implement automated tests (unit, integration, system) and maintain Python wheels/bindings for C++ libraries
  • Automate documentation generation/publication and explore agentic workflows for software development, testing, documentation, and productivity
  • Collaborate with researchers and engineers to integrate software into ongoing projects, document architectural decisions, and present your work

Profil
Your Profile

  • Enrolled in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related program
  • Strong programming skills in modern C++
  • Good understanding of software engineering, modular design, and architecture
  • Interest in testing, CI/CD, code quality, and developer tooling
  • Familiarity with Git and collaborative software development
  • Interest in AI-assisted development or agentic systems
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Good English communication skills

Nice to Have

  • Experience with unit/integration testing and CMake/C++ packaging
  • Familiarity with Python bindings or wheels from C++
  • Knowledge of documentation/deployment/release automation
  • Some exposure to GPU tech (Vulkan/CUDA) or game engine programming
