Description provided by Venture Capital Careers

📍 Headquarters near Munich in Aying

⌛ 20h a week

👉 Start: 1st September 2026 or earlier

Two venture capital funds. One financial engine room that keeps them running. Ready to help us build it out?

As our Working Student Finance, you take ownership of the numbers behind our funds and of the systems that turn them into decisions.

You work hand in hand with our team to define what information we need, then build the models and automations that deliver it.

In doing so, you help us invest in outstanding founder and emerging fund manager teams and power the next wave of Deep Tech innovation.

Here, you'll dig into real questions and the calculations behind them, not follow someone else's template: which numbers matter, how to structure them, and how to automate the rest.

Aufgaben

Key Responsibilities

  • Turn numbers into decisions: From ad-hoc analyses to quarterly investor reporting and liquidity planning, you keep the calculations accurate and translate their insights into dashboards that drive real decisions.
  • Think in systems: You see how our data, models, and processes connect, and design every upgrade with the whole picture in mind.
  • Own our financial engine room: You consolidate, validate, and reconcile the data flowing through it. Google Sheets is our reliable V1 and you help shape what V2 looks like.
  • Build, don't just maintain: You take our financial data flows and calculation logic to the next level, choosing the right tech together with us and implementing it yourself as our needs grow.

Qualifikation

What You Bring To The Role

  • Currently enrolled in a degree program in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Business Informatics, Data Analytics, or a related field. Ideally at the start of your master's.
  • Solid financial know-how, ideally with first practical exposure to Finance Operations or Controlling (internship, working student role, or similar).
  • Comfort with complex models; experience with Google Apps Script, other automation tools, or AI-supported workflows is a strong plus.
  • Strong hands-on skills in Google Sheets, or Excel skills that transfer quickly, including structured data handling and building clear, user-friendly dashboards.
  • An analytical, conceptual mind with a genuine drive to dive deep into the finance side of venture capital.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a high sense of ownership for data accuracy.
  • Fluent written and spoken English (ideally C2 level); German is a plus.

Benefits

What You Can Expect

  • Real ownership from day one: you help to decide how our financial models evolve, propose your own solutions, and see them go live.
  • A rare look behind the scenes of how a venture capital fund actually runs, from raw numbers to the decisions they drive.
  • Quick, direct feedback from your team, so your projects move as fast as you do.
  • The tools and processes you build become part of how we operate. Built to last, well past the task that created them.
  • An open door beyond your studies: if it's a great fit on both sides, we're looking for a long-term partnership.
  • A young, entrepreneurial team where you're a full, integral member from day one.
  • A mix of office and home office: this is a hybrid role with regular on-site presence at our Aying headquarters, e.g. 1-2 days per week, as far as your studies allow.

We are looking forward to receiving your application via Join.com, including your current CV, cover letter, and earliest start date.

For any questions, please reach out to us: your main contact is our Director of Operations, Anja.

Working student essentials

What this Finance working student role in Aying means for you: the weekly-hours rules, the social-contribution perks, and what international students should check before applying.

Weekly hours

Working students may work up to 20 hours a week during the semester and full-time during the breaks. Staying within this keeps your student status and the Werkstudent benefits.

Working student rules

Social contributions

Under the Werkstudentenprivileg you're exempt from health, care and unemployment insurance contributions — only pension insurance applies. That leaves more net pay than a regular job.

Check your insurance

International students

Non-EU students can work 140 full or 280 half days per year (raised from 120/240 in March 2024). A working student contract usually fits within this — confirm the exact limits printed on your residence permit.
