Description provided by USU Solutions DACH

Want to gain hands-on experience building SaaS integrations using AI-first development? Join our platform team and develop connectors that connect real companies to tools like Slack, Salesforce, and beyond. Work with modern tech (TypeScript, APIs, message queues) and learn how professional software integrations work in an AI-driven workflow - with real code review and mentorship from an experienced team.

Join us now!

Your Tasks:

  • Build new SaaS connectors in TypeScript (Bun + Elysia) to integrate platforms like Slack, Salesforce, and Atlassian into our platform.
  • Work with REST and GraphQL APIs; handle authentication, pagination, rate limits, and error cases.
  • Publish and consume events over RabbitMQ so services stay in sync and handle real-world distributed patterns.
  • Use AI coding agents (Claude Code, etc.) to write most connector code - your role is to verify, test, and refine against vendor APIs. Write tests and documentation.
  • Learn through code review, collaborate with the team, and grow your backend development skills in a real-world project.

Your Qualifications:

  • You are enrolled in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a comparable program.
  • You have solid TypeScript skills and understand async/await, Node.js, and basic API concepts.
  • You are comfortable with Git and REST APIs; prior experience with GraphQL or message queues is helpful but not required.
  • You read documentation before guessing and are willing to learn from feedback and code review.
  • You can contribute 15–20 hours per week. Fluent English or German required.

Nice to Have:

  • Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines (GitLab), or SQL/PostgreSQL experience.
  • Prior exposure to SaaS platforms or IT asset management.

This position is available at one of our three locations: Aachen, Leinfelden-Echterdingen, or Möglingen.

Our Benefits:

  • A buddy program and personalized onboarding plan for new employees, as well as an orientation session
  • Flexible work hours, an open-door policy, and flat hierarchies
  • 30 days of vacation per year
  • Employee discounts
  • USU Bistro with discounted lunch options
  • Parking garage and charging stations for electric vehicles
  • Free water, coffee, tea, and fruit
  • A collaborative work environment

What this Tech working student role in Möglingen means for you: the weekly-hours rules, the social-contribution perks, and what international students should check before applying.

Weekly hours

Working students may work up to 20 hours a week during the semester and full-time during the breaks. Staying within this keeps your student status and the Werkstudent benefits.

Social contributions

Under the Werkstudentenprivileg you're exempt from health, care and unemployment insurance contributions — only pension insurance applies. That leaves more net pay than a regular job.
