As a Working Student in Controlling, you will support the Controller and Head of Finance with hands-on analytical work across budgeting, forecasting, cost analysis, and management reporting. Beyond classical controlling, you will actively use AI tools, write SQL queries, and help build and maintain finance automation (VBA, scripting, internal tools). This is not a filing-and-formatting role: you will work directly with real financial data and real code in a fast-scaling defense company.
Your roadmap to make an impact
Reporting & Variance Analysis
- Support monthly Actuals vs. Forecast analysis, including variance calculations and commentary
- Maintain and improve management P&L and cost center reporting
- Prepare ad-hoc analyses on costs, projects, and business performance
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Assist in building and maintaining rolling forecast models, including scenario analysis
- Support the annual budget process, including data collection, template preparation, and consolidation
- Help translate operational inputs (e.g., hiring plans, production schedules, sales forecasts) into financial projections
Data Quality & Process Support
- Support data reconciliation between Odoo, DATEV, and reporting tools
- Maintain controlling master data and contribute to process improvements
Project & Sales Controlling
- Assist in tracking project budgets, milestones, and margins
- Prepare sales controlling reports, including revenue tracking, order intake, and KPIs
Finance Tools & Automation
- Use AI tools (e.g., Claude) to support finance workflows and reporting
- Develop and maintain VBA, SQL, and other automation solutions for reporting and data analysis
- Contribute to improving internal finance tools and processes
Job requirements
Background
- Currently enrolled in Business Informatics, Finance, Controlling, Business Administration, or a related quantitative field
- Strong interest in financial analysis, controlling, and management reporting
- Initial practical experience through internships, working student roles, or academic projects
Skills
- Strong Excel skills and confidence working with structured data
- Basic SQL knowledge or willingness to learn
- Interest in automation, programming (Python, VBA, etc.), and AI applications in finance
- Analytical, detail-oriented, and comfortable working with data
- Fluency in German and English are required

- Proactive and self-driven, with a hands-on approach
- Adaptable in a fast-paced, evolving environment
