About MechSyn

MechSyn is a materials technology and engineering company focused on the development and production of high-performance powder materials and innovative material recycling processes using electrically driven mechanochemical methods. Our technology enables more sustainable and efficient materials production for applications such as catalysts, battery materials, semiconductors, fuel cells, and many more.

MechSyn is born out of the innovative environment of the Max-Planck-Institut für Kohlenforschung in Mülheim an der Ruhr and funded by the EXIST Research Transfer Program of the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection and the “Grüne Gründungen.NRW” funding programme supporting sustainable technology companies in North Rhine-Westphalia.

We focus on scaling up validated lab procedures while integrating research on alternative new materials to disrupt industrial material production.

Your Responsibilities

  • Conduct independent research aligned with your thesis topic
  • Work closely with the Management Team on real business questions
  • Support financial analyses, market research, and strategic planning
  • Contribute to market and business field analyses
  • Present findings and contribute to internal decision-making
  • Document experimental procedures, results, and findings in a structured manner
  • Contribute to ongoing projects within the MechSyn team

Your Profile

  • Master's student in Business Administration, Management, Industrial Engineering, Business Chemistry, or a comparable field, seeking a thesis position
  • Strong interest in technology-driven businesses and deep-tech innovation
  • Strong willingness to familiarize yourself with chemical technologies and industrial materials applications
  • Structured, analytical, and independent working style
  • Ability to work independently while being a collaborative team member
  • Fluent English (written and spoken), thesis must be written in English
  • Previous experience or strong interest in business development, market research, financial modeling, or strategic planning is a plus
