Im Rahmen der deutschen G7 Präsidentschaft 2022 wurde die Partnerschaft für Globale Infrastruktur und Investitionen (PGII) maßgeblich weiterentwickelt. Die Initiative soll bis 2027 Investitionen von 600 Mrd. US-Dollar für globale Infrastruktur mobilisieren. Das Referat „Wirtschaftliche Entwicklung, öffentliche Finanzen und Finanzsysteme“ im Bundesministerium für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung (BMZ) ist innerhalb der Bundesregierung für die Steuerung und Umsetzung dieser Infrastrukturinitiative verantwortlich.

Dabei berät das GIZ-Vorhaben „Nachhaltige Wirtschafts- und Finanzsysteme“ das BMZ in relevanten multilateralen, sowie nationalen Prozessen, zu fachlichen Fragen und trägt zum Wissensmanagement bei. Zudem begleitet das Vorhaben die Weiterentwicklung sektorübergreifender Konzepte und Förderansätze des BMZ im Themenfeld nachhaltige Infrastruktur.
