Job description

Internship / Working Student | Teltow, near Berlin | R&D, MEMS, Lab Automation

We’re looking for a motivated student to help automate production and lab equipment used in the development and characterization of our MEMS oxygen sensors.

You’ll work closely with our Embedded Systems & Lab Automation Engineer to automate  wafer-scale profilometer measurements. Depending on the instrument, this may involve APIs, serial communication, SDKs, vendor software, or file-based workflows. In short: you’ll help figure out what works, then turn it into something reliable.

What you’ll do
  • Explore automation options for a profilometer
  • Write Python scripts for automated measurement and data-analysis workflows
  • Learn and apply AI-based methods, for example for optical recognition or data processing
  • Process and visualize measurement data
  • Document scripts so others can use and reproduce your work
  • Help integrate automation into daily R&D and production workflows
  • Work independently on practical hardware and automation tasks

Depending on your progress and interest, you may also support other lab setups, such as automated dispensing, wafer calibration, or internal measurement tools.

What we’re looking for
  • Good Python scripting skills
  • Curiosity about hardware, instruments, automation, and AI
  • Ability to read technical documentation and test different approaches
  • Careful working style with testing and documentation
  • Basic Git experience

Plus points for experience with:

  • Optical recognition, microscopy
  • CNC systems, 3D printing, or similar hardware
  • Analysis of 3D data

You don’t need to be an instrumentation expert. Motivation, curiosity, and a hands-on mindset matter more.

What we offer
  • This position is essentially a paid way to gain hands-on experience with hardware programming, automation, and AI
  • A high level of independence and real responsibility
  • Flexible working hours and location
  • A young, active team in a startup environment
  • English as the main lab language
  • The possibility of a future full-time position in the company
Who you are

You’re a student in engineering, computer science, physics, or a similar field. You enjoy solving practical problems, debugging, and working with real hardware in a startup environment.
