Job description

Description provided by ERC System

ABOUT THE ROLE

As Working Student – Scaled Model Structures, you support the design and build of our scaled demonstrator aircraft at ERC System. These models support verification and identification tasks in conceptual and preliminary design, are used to research future aircraft configurations, and verify flight controller capabilities.

You work closely with experienced engineers and gain hands-on insight into airframe design, composite fabrication, and structural assembly in the workshop.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Support the design of fuselage, wings, and empennage
  • Build the airframe through composite fabrication, mechanical assembly, and preparation for system installation
  • Track weight and support strength verification and structural testing
  • Prepare and take part in ground and flight tests
  • Analyse test data and feed the findings into the next build
  • Help improve concepts, tools, and methods in the workshop and test environment

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Enrolment in a bachelor's or master's program in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field
  • Basic understanding of aircraft structures and strength, and experience with CAD, ideally Siemens NX
  • Experience with composite fabrication, workshop practices, and mechanical assembly
  • Hands-on experience with UAVs or model aircraft
  • Strong motivation to work with hardware and get it ready to fly
  • A structured and reliable way of working, independently and in a team, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Fluent English, with German knowledge as a plus

Moreover, it would be helpful if you also

  • have experience with test operations or flight testing
  • have an understanding of RC aircraft and UAV systems
  • have scripting experience in Python or MATLAB

WHAT WE OFFER

  • Full-scale aerospace engineering, not concept slides
  • A 60+ engineer team at Ottobrunn
  • Real ownership and flat hierarchies: a modern startup culture where your input shapes decisions, not just execution
  • Flexible working hours, remote work, and competitive compensation
  • Health & wellbeing: EGYM Wellpass membership and subsidized lunch in our canteen
  • Office extras: espresso coffee, fresh fruit, and soft drinks, plus regular team and company events, and plenty more once you're on board
