Description provided by Demodesk
You will work directly with Veronika Wax, our founder and CEO, as her right hand across everything it takes to run an AI company: strategy, fundraising, product, hiring, and the operational work that keeps a fast-moving startup on track.
This is the closest thing to a founder apprenticeship you can get without starting a company yourself. You will sit in leadership meetings, prepare board and investor materials, own strategic projects end to end, and see how every function of a B2B software company fits together. No coffee runs. If a task can be automated with AI, we automate it, which means what is left for you is the work that actually requires judgment.
The best version of this internship ends with you either joining us full-time in a role you helped define, or leaving with the operating system to build your own company.
Goals
- Own strategic projects end to end: market analyses, competitive research, pricing experiments, expansion plans
- Prepare board meetings, investor updates, and fundraising materials
- Build decision-ready briefings: gather the data, pressure-test the options, recommend a path
- Automate internal processes with AI agents (built on our own platform) so the leadership team moves faster
- Join customer and partner conversations alongside the CEO and turn them into follow-through
- Track execution across teams: make sure decisions made on Monday are shipped by Friday
What you bring
- Outstanding academic record in business, economics, engineering, or a comparable field, currently enrolled or recently graduated
- You are AI native: LLMs are already part of how you research, write, and build every day
- Structured thinking and sharp writing: you can compress a messy problem into one clear page
- High ownership and discretion: you will see sensitive information and be trusted with it
- Speed and resilience: priorities shift fast at a startup, and you find that energizing rather than stressful
- Fluent English and German
- First experience in a startup, VC, consulting, or your own entrepreneurial project
- Exposure to B2B SaaS metrics and how software companies are built and funded
- Something you built, wrote, or organized that shows initiative (show us!)
- Paid internship with a competitive monthly salary
- A direct working relationship with the founder and CEO, daily, not quarterly
- Full visibility into how an AI company is run: strategy, fundraising, product, go-to-market
- The full AI toolkit: we pay for the best AI tools available, and you will use them all day
- Top-of-line equipment
- Team face time in Munich and a front-row seat at an AI company defining a new category
- A strong pipeline to a full-time role: interns who ship stay
Demodesk is the AI that does the job, not the AI that tells you what to do. For ten years, sales AI has handed dashboards to overwhelmed reps and called it transformation. We built something different: AI agents that join every sales conversation, update the CRM, send the follow-ups, coach reps after every call, and flag deals at risk before they slip.
Founded in Munich in 2018 and backed by $15M from Balderton, Y Combinator, and the founders of HubSpot and Pipedrive, we serve 300+ customers and 20,000+ sales professionals across Europe, including Porsche, Bosch, Treatwell, OMR, and Enpal. GDPR-native, ISO 27001 certified, EU-only data. We are still small enough that everyone's fingerprints are on the product.
Working student essentials
What this Operations internship means for you in Germany: the pay rules, the social contributions, and what international students should check before applying.
Weekly hours
Internships have no 20-hour cap, but a voluntary internship longer than three months generally has to pay at least the German minimum wage. Mandatory internships in your study programme are exempt.
Working student rulesSocial contributions
Mandatory internships are largely exempt from social contributions. Voluntary internships are treated like regular employment once they run long enough, so contributions usually apply.
Check your insuranceInternational students
Non-EU students can work 140 full or 280 half days per year (raised from 120/240 in March 2024). A working student contract usually fits within this — confirm the exact limits printed on your residence permit.
