Description provided by Avocargo 🥑

At AVO Mobility we are changing the way we live in cities. With Avocargo we’re making electric cargo bikes available to everyone, people and businesses. We believe in the huge potential of cargo bikes and overcome the barriers that still prevent them from being a serious alternative to cars. Are you looking to be part of something big that not only helps solve people’s problems, but does so in a sustainable, comfortable, and exciting way? Then get in touch and help us make this world a little bit better.

We are looking for a Marketing Intern (w/d/m) to support the founding team in Berlin or remotely.

Research shows that men apply to jobs when they meet an average of 60% of the criteria. Meanwhile, women and other members of marginalized groups often only apply if they check every box. So if you might have what it takes, but don't quite meet every single point on the job description, please get in touch either way. We'd love to have a chat and see if you could be a great fit.

Your role in building Avocargo

  • Work closely with the founding team to monitor and influence key growth metrics.
  • Establish and develop customer acquisition channels.
  • Experiment with a range of options and focus on the most promising ones.
  • Create and test content to gather insights into how our target audiences behave and share those within the team.

Requirements

  • You have a background in marketing.
  • You quickly adjust to new situations.
  • You are motivated by the immense effects your actions may have on the business as a whole and your focus area in particular.
  • You are looking for an environment that allows you to try out things and make mistakes to learn from.
  • You take the initiative and identify issues that you address in the right priority.
  • You are happy to get your hands dirty.
  • You speak and write German at a proficient level.
  • You have at least one key skill that no one else at AVO Mobility has yet.
  • You have a deeply agile mindset and get s**t done.

Not Required, But Definitely Helping

  • Previous startup experience or other small/scrappy team experience, maybe even in a founding position.
  • Previous leadership experience.
  • Strong interest in mobility and/or sustainability.

On top of that

When do you ever get the chance to really shape a company? You will be decisive in getting Avocargo on the road and hopefully, in a few years, you will look back at a time that was among the most exciting in your (professional) life. We are looking to learn as much and as fast as possible - with you and from you.

And of course, you’ll get to ride a lot of electric cargo bikes.

Please send your application including all documents, references, or links you may want us to know about to [email protected]. We will try our best to get back to you as soon as possible.

Working student essentials

What this Marketing internship in Berlin means for you — pay rules, social contributions, and what international students should check before applying.

Weekly hours

Internships have no 20-hour cap, but a voluntary internship longer than three months generally has to pay at least the German minimum wage. Mandatory internships in your study programme are exempt.

Working student rules

Social contributions

Mandatory internships are largely exempt from social contributions. Voluntary internships are treated like regular employment once they run long enough, so contributions usually apply.

International students

Non-EU students can work 140 full or 280 half days per year (raised from 120/240 in March 2024). A working student contract usually fits within this — confirm the exact limits printed on your residence permit.
