Are you passionate about shaping the future of energy systems and eager to apply your skills in flexibility provision, operation, and modelling of thermal systems? Join us for your Mandatory Internship (f/m/d) at Erlangen and take on exciting technical challenges like heat pump cycle calculation, district heating modelling, and more—let’s drive innovation together!

You'll make an impact by

  • You support the development and application of simulation models for thermal systems, such as heat pumps and district heating networks, by working with Python-based tools and libraries
  • Building on this, you assist in analyzing and improving steady-state and dynamic simulations to enable more accurate operation and optimization of energy systems
  • Furthermore, you contribute to the assessment of communication standards and open-source solutions for integrating heat pumps into electric grids for flexibility provision
  • In addition, you help develop standardized models for thermal storage units based on real laboratory plants, supporting their integration into optimal control strategies
  • Finally, you implement and test methods for forecasting thermal loads, leveraging both simple approaches and regression-based techniques

  • Education: You are currently successfully enrolled in a master's program in mechanical engineering, process engineering, electrical engineering, control technology, or energy technology
  • Experience and Skills:
    • Proficient in software development, especially with Python
    • You have proven experience in energy systems or the energy sector
    • Quick comprehension of new Python libraries and frameworks
    • Solid understanding of energy technologies and thermodynamics and their modeling
  • Ways of Working: You work independently, are eager to learn, and have strong analytical thinking skills
  • Languages: You have fluent English language skills

Wichtiges für Werkstudierende

Was dieses Praktikum im Bereich Ingenieurwesen in Munich für dich bedeutet — Vergütungsregeln, Sozialabgaben und worauf internationale Studierende achten sollten.

Wochenstunden

Praktika haben keine 20-Stunden-Grenze, ein freiwilliges Praktikum über drei Monate muss aber in der Regel mindestens den Mindestlohn zahlen. Pflichtpraktika im Studium sind davon ausgenommen.

Werkstudenten-Regeln

Sozialabgaben

Pflichtpraktika sind weitgehend von Sozialabgaben befreit. Freiwillige Praktika gelten ab einer gewissen Dauer als reguläre Beschäftigung, dann fallen meist Beiträge an.

Versicherung prüfen

Internationale Studierende

Studierende von außerhalb der EU dürfen 140 volle oder 280 halbe Tage im Jahr arbeiten (seit März 2024, zuvor 120/240). Ein Werkstudentenvertrag passt meist in diesen Rahmen — prüfe die genauen Grenzen auf deinem Aufenthaltstitel.
