Description provided by The Consumer AI
Help us build Europe’s simulation layer for consumer decisions
Who we are
theconsumer.ai is a platform for synthetic market research. Dynamic Personas, built from census data, let companies screen ideas fast. Premium Twins, built from interviews with real consumers, validate the decisions that matter. Answers that take a traditional research agency weeks come back within a day, and first clients from consumer goods and retail already work with the platform.
Our belief is simple: before a brand launches a product, changes a price or picks a message, it should be able to see how people will react. We want to build that layer for Europe, grounded in real people instead of guesswork.
theconsumer.ai is run by SYNCON Labs GmbH. Right now we are two founders, Fabian (CEO) and Ismail (CTPO). Between us, we’ve worked with brands like The Coca-Cola Company, Nestlé, Dr. Oetker, Telefónica, Google and Vodafone, and we’ve built startups before. We know how big companies make decisions, and we know what it takes to build something new from scratch. You would be the first person on the team whose main focus is Product and UX.
The challenge
Today we set up many client studies ourselves. Soon, someone in marketing or product development with no research background should be able to enter their target audience, research question and materials, and get a clean, solid study back. This has to work for very different kinds of studies, from concept tests to audience surveys. How that flow should work is our most important open product question and you would be working on it.
What you’ll do
- Design the self-service flow end to end, from defining the audience to the finished result. First as flows and structure, then as screens.
- Build our design system in Figma and own our design process.
- Test your designs with users from our client projects, and change them when they don’t work.
- Research how the best products solve similar problems, from research tools to complex B2B onboarding, and bring those learnings into our product.
- Challenge our view on UX and product. You’ll often see things we’ve stopped noticing, and we want to hear about them.
What you bring
- You’re enrolled at a university in Germany, for example in interaction design, communication design, media informatics, HCI or psychology with a UX focus.
- Your portfolio shows how you got to your designs: what the problem was and why you decided the way you did.
- You care about making complicated inputs simple for non-experts.
- You take initiative. You don’t wait for a perfect brief. You notice what’s unclear, propose something and move it forward.
- You challenge ideas, including ours. If a flow, an assumption or a founder’s idea doesn’t hold up, you say so and show a better option.
- You like working at startup pace. Priorities shift, and that gives you energy rather than stress.
- You already use AI tools in your work, or you want to learn. Clickable prototypes with Claude Code, Cursor or v0 are a plus, not a requirement.
- You speak and write very good German and English. Our users work mostly in German, and a lot of our tooling and documentation is in English.
What you get
- Your own product area from day one. What you design gets built and used by clients.
- You work directly with both founders. Decisions are fast, and your input shapes what the product becomes.
- AI tools are part of everyday work here. We build with them and use them for research and writing. You get access to everything we use ourselves.
- ≈ 15/hour for 17 hours/week. More hours are possible during semester breaks, by agreement.
- You work remotely, and we meet regularly in Hamburg, Munich or Mallorca.
How to apply
Send your CV, portfolio or intro video to [email protected] and briefly answer three questions in your email. No cover letter needed. German or English is fine.
- Which project in your portfolio best shows how you made a complicated process simple, and what was your part in it?
- How do you use AI tools today? One concrete example is enough.
- When can you start, and which days could you work?
Next comes a 30-minute video call with Fabian and Ismail and a short practical task of no more than two to three hours, where you can use any tools you like. You’ll get a decision no later than one week after the call.
