Description provided by SAP
At SAP, we keep it simple: you bring your best to us, and we'll bring out the best in you. We're builders touching over 20 industries and 80% of global commerce, and we need your unique talents to help shape what's next. The work is challenging – but it matters. You'll find a place where you can be yourself, prioritize your wellbeing, and truly belong. What's in it for you? Constant learning, skill growth, great benefits, and a team that wants you to grow and succeed.
What You'll Build
Curious about how large language models turn into real products that people use every day? Join our Product Services team in Cloud ERP Finance as a Working Student in AI Engineering. You will help design and build AI-powered applications — from chatbots to automated document and planning analysis — that make product development planning for our internal teams faster, smarter, and more focused on what matters.
This is hands-on engineering with impact: you ship working solutions in the cloud and see them used by real teams. Along the way you'll learn how modern AI services, backend development, and enterprise cloud platforms fit together — and how a good idea becomes a tool that creates measurable value.
- Build and improve AI-powered features (chatbots, document and issue analysis) using large language models.
- Design prompts and orchestration logic, and connect applications to different AI models through a central AI platform.
- Develop and maintain backend services and simple web interfaces.
- Deploy your work to the cloud and integrate services such as databases, storage, and authentication.
- Join workshops with internal stakeholders to identify requirements and translate them into concrete use cases with clear value.
- Help ensure quality and data protection through testing and privacy-aware handling of data.
- Enrolled student (f/m/d) at a university or university of applied sciences, e.g. in Computer Science, Business Informatics, Data Science or a related field.
- Hands-on software engineering experience — you have coded yourself (study project, internship, personal or open-source project).
- Solid knowledge of at least one programming language (ideally Python; Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Go or similar are welcome).
- First exposure to backend development with any web/API framework (e.g. Flask, FastAPI, Express, Spring, Django).
- Basic understanding of, or clear interest in, large language models and prompt engineering.
- Comfortable with Git and clean, well-documented work.
- Fluent in English (spoken and written). German is a plus but not required.
Where you belong
We are the Product-Services-Team in Cloud ERP Finance &Spend. Our mission is to create economy of scale, efficiency, and consistency across Cloud ERP — supporting product teams with insights, best-practice content, user enablement, quality strategy, and, at the heart of what we do, product development planning. Day to day, we gather requirements from our internal stakeholders, build and refine AI services and applications that make planning smarter, deploy them to the cloud, and continuously improve them based on real feedback.
Your set of application documents should contain a cover letter, a resume in table form, school leaving certificates, certificate of enrollment, current university transcript of records, copies of any academic degrees already earned, and if available, references from former employers (including internships). Please also describe your experience and skills in foreign languages and computer programs / programming languages.
This is a SAP global, strategic, paid working student position that provides students with opportunities to find purpose in their careers.
