Job Description

About the role:

What happens behind the scenes when thousands of employees need to be paid accurately and on time? That’s where our Payroll team comes in.

As a Working Student in Payroll & HR Operations at Redcare Pharmacy, you’ll get a first-hand look at how payroll works in a fast-growing, international company and you’ll be part of the process from day one. You won’t just be observing from the sidelines: you’ll work with real employee data, support payroll processes, help solve day-to-day challenges and gradually take ownership of your own tasks.

What makes this role particularly exciting is that Payroll sits at the intersection of people, finance, data and technology. You’ll learn how employee information flows from HR systems into payroll, how payroll data is checked and reconciled, and how everything ultimately comes together with Finance and Treasury. You’ll also get exposure to Workday, payroll technology and transformation projects, giving you a perspective that goes well beyond traditional HR administration.

And there’s plenty of room to make an impact. As you get to know our processes, we want you to ask questions, challenge the way things are done and bring your own ideas. Whether it’s simplifying a process, improving documentation, spotting an opportunity for automation or helping test a new system, your perspective matters.

No previous payroll experience is required. What matters most is that you’re curious, structured, comfortable working with data and excited to learn how things work behind the scenes. In return, you’ll gain practical experience that can open doors into Payroll, HR, Finance, Data, Technology or Business Transformation, while working alongside experienced colleagues in an international environment.

Your tasks:

  • Support the day-to-day administration of German payroll, including employee data maintenance, new hire administration and payroll-related queries
  • Perform payroll checks, reconciliations and data validations and support the investigation of discrepancies
  • Assist with payroll reporting and worker administration as well as other activities required to keep payroll operations running smoothly
  • Support payroll systems and technology projects, including system testing, user acceptance testing, data validation and implementation activities
  • Help document and improve payroll processes, work instructions and procedures
  • Identify opportunities to simplify, standardize or automate administrative processes and contribute your own ideas for improvement
  • Gradually take ownership of selected activities and gain exposure to how HR, payroll, finance, treasury, data and technology work together

Qualifications

  • Currently studying Business Administration, Human Resources, Finance, Accounting, Business Informatics, Data, Technology or a comparable subject
  • Strong interest in payroll, HR operations, finance, data, systems or business transformation; previous payroll experience is not required
  • Structured, reliable and detail-oriented, with an ability to work accurately with data and administrative processes; also critical thinking helps to challenge the status quo
  • Comfortable working with Excel and interested in learning new systems and technologies
  • Curious mindset, willingness to ask questions and motivation to understand, improve and take ownership of processes
  • Fluent German and English in both writing and speaking
