Job description
Join us as a SOTIF Intern (all genders) in our Autonomous Driving & Vehicle Systems team and help shape the future of autonomous mobility!
As a SOTIF (Safety of the Intended Function) Intern, you will work in an international team on one of the most exciting and challenging topics in the automotive industry: developing automated driving for series production! Together with your colleagues from Technical Development and Design at Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, you will help develop the ID. Buzz AD (Autonomous Driving) and next‑generation autonomous vehicles.
The focus of this position lies in developing methods to identify the capability limits of an automated driving system in accordance with ISO 21448 (Safety of the Intended Function). The preferred duration of the internship is at least 6 months.
What you will do
- Supporting the development of a requirements catalog for traffic rules
- Developing scripts for analyzing requirement and scenario catalogs
- Modeling functional scenarios
- Compiling driving tests for simulation
- Evaluating simulated test cases and analyzing fleet events
- Creating workflows to enable up-to-date documentation of SOTIF artifacts
- Students (or bachelor's graduates starting a master's program at the next possible date) in Computer Science, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, or a comparable study program.
- To support your personal development and for you to take ownership of projects and processes, you should be enrolled for at least 6 months.
- Strong organizational mindset, structured analytical thinking and the ability to translate complex topics for diverse audiences
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English and German (B2).
- Experience in testing and scenario‑based testing is desirable
- Programming skills preferred (Python, LaTeX, etc.)
- A driving license (Class B) or prior driving experience is considered a plus, as it can help with understanding traffic rules and typical driver behavior.
