About Levion

Levion is a space technology company developing hardware to produce space-grown, high-quality semiconductor crystalline material for applications in radiation detection, medical imaging, and other high-performance sectors. Our flight-ready payload is targeting launch in 2028.

We are a small, high-output team working across the full development cycle — from system design and ESA review through to flight qualification. As we move from Preliminary Design Review (PDR) into Critical Design Review (CDR) preparation, we are looking for a hands-on working student to support our mechanical and thermal engineering workstreams.

What You Will Work On

  • Creating and refining 2D technical drawings from existing SolidWorks models, including detail drawings for manufacturing and interface documentation
  • Supporting the mechanical design finalization of flight-equivalent hardware components
  • Maintaining and updating the Bill of Materials (BOM), including supplier and manufacturer research
  • Documenting assembly logic and integration sequences in preparation for the EM2 build phase
  • Supporting parametric design studies in SolidWorks as the design is refined toward CDR
  • Assisting with basic thermal and process simulation tasks, such as parameter studies and geometry preparation for FEM analysis (Ansys)
  • Contributing to technical documentation packages

What We Are Looking For

Required:

  • Enrolled in a degree programme in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics Engineering, Precision Engineering, or a closely related field (Bachelor's or Master's level)
  • Practical experience with SolidWorks — you can create and modify 3D models and produce dimensioned 2D drawings independently
  • Structured, detail-oriented way of working; able to manage tasks with limited supervision in a small team environment
  • Good written and spoken English (our technical documentation is in English)
  • Valid working permit for Germany/EU (no visa sponsorship)

Nice to have:

  • Exposure to thermal simulation or FEM tools (e.g. Ansys, COMSOL, or equivalent) — even at a coursework level
  • Interest in space hardware, vacuum systems, or high-temperature processes
  • Experience reading or working with interface control documents (ICDs) or engineering standards (ISO, ECSS)
