Student assistant on cloud computing (HiWi/part-time) (f/m/d)

The DigiMed Secure Cloud is hosted at LRZ, which provides a trusted research environment supporting data-driven health research in a secure way. Our mission is to provide researchers with reliable, and confidential computing infrastructure for processing sensitive data (e.g. medical data)

Your Role and Responsibilities:

You will become part of the DigiMed Secure Cloud operation team and contribute to maintaining and improving our OpenStack-based cloud environment. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Onboarding new users
  • Maintaining difference services (code) hosted on the cloud
  • Drafting technical and non-technical documents, e.g., user manuals and security compliances.
  • Receiving and processing basic service tickets from users
  • Coding and scripting
  • Assist in risk assessments, or penetration tests

This position offers hands-on experience in cloud and HPC operations. This position can also lead to a master thesis.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Enrolled student holding a Bachelor degree in Computer Science
  • Knowledge of Linux command lines
  • Familiar with one of the programming languages: Python, Golang or C/C++.
  • Good communication skills in English
  • Interest in cloud technologies and system administration operations
  • Good communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of cloud computing and networking
  • Curiosity in security, privacy and AI applications
  • Knowledge of German is a plus
