Job description

Description provided by Deutsche Börse Group

Your career at Deutsche Börse Group

As a central securities depository (CSD) headquartered in Frankfurt/Main, Clearstream Europe AG operates the post-trading business – i.e. issuance, settlement and custody – for German securities.

Your area of work

As an intern (f/m/d) you will support the team in the Group Audit department, specifically within Internal Audit CEU. The mission of Internal Audit is to enhance and protect organizational value by providing risk-based and objective assurance, advice, and insight.

Internal Audit is a permanent function that, as the third line of defense, delivers independent, objective assurance and consulting services designed to add value and improve CEU's operations. It helps Clearstream Europe accomplish its objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control and governance processes. Internal Audit also provides an independent, objective and critical review of the first two lines of defense. Working in Internal Audit CEU is an extraordinary opportunity to gain an insight on the Internal Control System of a unique player in the German Financial Services Industry.

Your responsibilities:

  • You will support audit work by reviewing processes, risks, and controls across different parts of the business, including audit testing and walkthroughs
  • You will analyze information, document observations, and translate findings into clear, actionable insights that highlight control gaps, inefficiencies, or opportunities to improve
  • Additionally, you will contribute to executive presentations, audit reporting, and ongoing projects alongside audit professionals and business stakeholders
  • You will gain exposure to how governance, risk management, and internal controls support a global financial services company
  • You will take ownership of selected strategic topics assigned by the Head of Internal Audit CEU, independently researching, designing, and delivering practical solutions
  • Furthermore, you will explore, develop, and implement AI-driven solutions to address key audit challenges, improve workflows, and enhance data analysis and reporting

Your profile:

  • You are enrolled during the entire period of activity at a state-recognized university as a regular student and have completed at least the first year of your university studies. Furthermore, we offer the possibility of an orientation internship, whereby you are currently in a gap-year after your bachelor's or master's degree in the above-mentioned fields of study - in this case, an enrollment is not required
  • You are interested in internal audit, banking and capital markets
  • You have the ability to work independently, communication and teamwork skills, a sense of responsibility, the affinity for numbers and creative thinking
  • In addition, you have strong analytical skills, entrepreneurship, high level of energy, curiosity and attention to detail
  • You have a strong interest in AI and are motivated to actively developing and implementing solutions that create real impact
  • You have very good knowledge in MS-Office Applications (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Furthermore, you are proficient in written and spoken English. Knowledge of German would be a plus
